Default beta drivers

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't find anything straightforward in the forum.

Why hasn't nvidia never released a beta linux driver, complete with a 'use at own risk' warning, etc? It could help with early bug tracking, and provide for new technologies ahead of time.
It happens for windows drivers already, and the risks / gains are very clear.
Besides linux users are generally slightly more used to beta (or even pre-beta) software =)

Ahem... also, any news about the new rel90 drivers ?

yes I know this has been rolled up and down many times.

However the linux-drivers always have had minor glitches which could be solved this way. Maybe the desicion hirarchy is too deep to react fast enough for development?

Could be ... I'm just curious, seeing that there isn't a definite answer, besides the number of posts . There was ground for an early beta release mostly before this version (earlier xorg7.1 support) and somewhat the next one (t_f_p and new configuration tool) .

Perhaps the linux drivers are really beta drivers in disguise... (cue theme from Twilight Zone) (pirate)
