I'm sitting here typing on Bubbles with my wife behind me watching the Cubs game on Blue which I'm also keeping an eye on in my handy-dandy little mirror I have strategically placed on my shelf that lets me watch what is on Blue's monitor while typing on Bubbles.
![]() My kids keep running in every 5 minutes for some reason or other. It's "Nicktoon's Friday Night" and I'm letting them stay up late and watch 'em all. My son & daughter were tripping me out playing, and then my 6 year old son decided to read a book to my 3 year old daughter. "Clifford the Big Red Dog" and he only had to ask me to help him with 'garage' & 'protecting'. ![]() They shocked the hell out of me by coming in here, (by "here" I mean our computer room the infamous 'digilair' which is actually a VERY crowded ex-dining room that borders the kitchen by a 9' alcove with a door to the living room where the kids are playing about 5' away from me that never closes), at 9pm sharp and saying "The shows are over, we're ready for bed."...which has NEVER happened before that I can remember. ![]() We do a trip to the toilet, we brush our teeth and wash up, we change 'em into their jammies, we all march down to my son's room where the kids bounce around on his bed for a few minutes (my son has a queen sized bed and my daughter a double, they're much more fun. ) then we do the 'family hug' ritual proper. (My wife ain't always there for the kids bedtime since she works past it, full family hugs are much better) We all hug, Maddy hugs Mom and Justin hugs Dad (that's me ), then we switch and Justin hugs Mom and Maddy hugs Dad, then we switch a last time and Maddy hugs Justin and Mommy and Daddy hug, then Daddy tucks Justin in while Mommy takes Maddy to her room and tucks her in.Then my over-weight puppy Beanie cleans up the remains of the kids supper from the living room and I take her out afterwords where I 'snuck' a cigarette ('snuck' because I don't lie to my wife and I tell her when I'm smoking again...not lying to my wife is a BIG rule I made for myself before I got married and I think it's a good one) and snuck a few bats that were kindly given to me by a friend who thinks the ability to run "AdAware" on a pc is an amazing feat and one which he was very grateful for (which the cigarette masks the odor of nicely), and then I come back and sit at Bubbles where my twin kitties rest on the desktop on either side of my monitor (Bubbles is in a corner hutch unit, lots of kitty room) and listen to the monitors in the kids room as they gently snore while watching the Cubs game FINALLY start to heat up again (which is faboo since it was only boring during the time I couldn't pay attention to it) and I type this ridiculously long post about absolutely nothing except a really pleasant Friday night I'm having. ![]() Did I mention I truly love my life? I really do. ![]() |
