I can't get the latest NVIDIA drivers to work with these drivers. But i want to know: Is nvidia latest drivers supposed to work on 2.6.12...13...14.. etc? and would external patches (like love) likely mess something up?

If possible, an elaborate answer would be better than simply a yes or no.

Which driver release are you using? What kind of error(s) are you seeing, exactly? Does the installation fail, or are you seeing runtime problems?

I personally think that

1) it'll take some time until 2.6.14 is released
2) nvidia won't just stop supporting Linux

i'm using 7174, i just tried 6629 too with the cumulative patch applied: but to no avail. I can build the module(7174,6629) but it won't get any further.

Maybe it's the love sources fault. they are made for gentoo and i'm using them on arch linux. strictly technically speaking that should not be of any problem though, but i'm mostly a noob, so what do i know..

i'll boot up the other kernel tomorrow and see what kind of errors i get from 'make install' (i've tried normal install too)

@test1000: have you verified that your card is assigned an IRQ by the SBIOS, as suggested in the 1.0-7174 nvidia-installer.log file?
