Default Bye Nvidia, hello Ati

As usual I was spoiled. My parents said I can buy anything for any amount of money.

So I ordered a Radeon 9700 Pro.
My bro will have my Geforce 3. Now I would like some sites where I can download Ati drivers (best ones) along with best Ati tweak utility.

I have become a fanATIc.
This doesn't mean I hate my Geforce 3 as it still performs well in games. It was a very good card.

It costs $800 AUD and it is a new card in Australia, there is no Radeon 9700 satndard, only R300 Pro and a Radeon 9000 Pro. That's it.

Also got 25 black cds and a black mouse pad made for optical mice (black absorbs infrared nicely).

Nice deal as well.

PS I am so excited I am all.shaky, twitchy and uncalm. I will not be able to sleep tonight.
The card comes in tomorrow.

Looks great, my main reason isn't for pure gaming though as I run LOTS of 2D games.

Very little 3d games I play.

I also watch lots of movies and DVDs.

Let me just say you wont be disapointed K.I.L.E.R!!
Do a clean install of your card or else you're going to have problems.Use catalyst 2.5 which work great for me.Rage3dtweaker and powerstrip are good overclocking utilities.
A more powerful cpu would help so show the real potential of your new card.
I currently play NOLF2,AOM,Mohaa,Empire Earth,Jedi knight2,Max Payne and Syberia with 6xfsaa&16xaniso and all is well. The 2d and DVD quality is also great.

Unfortunately, the 9700 doesn't have any blurring capabilities. I'd suggest turning off AF and trilinear filtering. You can still run in low resolutions though.

Perhaps if you spread a thin layer of vaseline on your monitor, it will improve the IQ enough to be acceptable?

j/k

Does bilinear + 16x AF look great? Any reason I want to use trilinear in combination with it?

for driver updates and utlities for ATI cards, I recommend www.Rage3d.com
one thing they have that really facinates me is the Directx9 drivers, control panel, and DX9 download links. You'll have to tell us all how the new stuff is (of course games don't really support it yet, but I'm sure you'd see some improvement over DX8)

now my only question for you, what is the SPECIFIC motherboard you have. Did you check to make sure it works well with the R9700? I've heard of a few people having problems, and all your sig says is that you have an i845 board.
