Default TAA, Multisample, or Supersampling ?

hi guys,

i'm running my 7800 GT with 1280x1024 4xAA 16x AF, high quality, with LOD clamped, and the new transparent AA set to supersampling. BF2 runs really well with this setting. i thought TAA would effect performance, but it didnt. sure makes it look better ! what do you guys run ? and whats the diff between MS and SS ? haven't tried the multisamping out yet ...

Don't bother with MS. It has almost zero performance hit and zero IQ improvement. TS for me does wonders for IQ with a few percentage point hit - you won't even notice unless you're benchmarking.

i run 8xs. mostly as a precaution to shimmering since ssaa reduces it. and i haven't noticed any shimmering. XD

as for differences in aa modes, read this thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...=Anti+Aliasing

Multisampling gives minor image improvement. Supersampling is where it is at.

Check out the image quality compaison on page seven of Mike's MSI GTX SLI review.
http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/msi_ge...i/page_7.shtml

Compare 8xS without TS and GC to 4X with TS and GC. Pretty cool.

TAA is great .. it enhances IQ without affecting the performance greatly & sometimes no performance hit at all!
i use it in games that are too fast with 4xAA but somewhat slow @8xAA.
i dont use the Multsampling because it dosent show much difference .. the clear difference can bs seen with supersampling. thats what i use most of the time.

heres 2 screenshots comparing no TAA to TAA (Supersampling) in the game Xpand Rally. (notice the framerate in the shots )

Thanks
the TAA is a great addition to the GF7 series when the player knows when & where to use it & IMO it results in a better overall IQ when we compare it to a Radeon card (with AA enabled).
people should not disregard this handy feature!
