It has been almost 4 years since I have been over here. Just traded my X800XL in for this eVGA 7800GT for $100 more. The X800XL was great for the month I had it but I needed more speed and the 7800GT was a better deal than the X1800XL due to the current price difference.
I am lovin this card though! Runs like a dream. Really the first FULL TIME nVidia game card for me since the Ti4600 prior to my defection to ATI with the 9800 Pro. QUESTION: What do you nVidia peeps do when upgrading the drivers? Do you go into the control pannel and ADD/REMOVE them and reboot and install the lastest? Or we still doing that whole driver cleaner registry scraping stuff? C. |

I just do the add/remove and then run the setup after rebooting.

I meant mainly when a new driver comes out but the card stays the same. C. |

I just install over the top but that's definitely not the recommended way. It always works for me though so I see no reason to stop doing that. It keeps your settings/profiles intact that way.
If you do remove them you might want to save your c:\windows\system32\nvapps.xml file so you can copy and paste your customized profiles into the new version. Or, you can use something like nHancer. It'll let you import the profiles. |

The step I always take when doing a nVidia driver install
I'm wondering though if it would be an idea to do this with nForce drivers. I'm only new to nForce having had VIA and Intel before.

The good thing about their dirvers is that you can just download and install over a previous version without an problems, usually.
However, if you ever need to rollback, or just want to clean up to unused files, you will need to add/remove and then use Driver Cleaner. |

Driver Cleaner seems to do some funkeh stuff sometimes, so I don't trust it anymore.
