Default Liberal media in a nosedive

'PROGRESSIVE' MEDIA STALLS: 'AIR AMERICA' IN AUDIENCE PLUNGE NYC, 'DAILY KOS' BOOK SELLS ONLY 3,600 COPIES
Wed Apr 26 2006 11:39:51 ET

Left-leaning new media has hit turbulence at the marketplace, newly released stats show.

A book hyped by major media as documenting a progressive revolution of "blogs" and political power, DAILY KOS 'CRASHING THE GATE,' has sold only 3,630 copies since its release last month, according to NIELSEN's BOOKSCAN.

[NIELSEN claims only 2,062 copies of DAILY KOS have been purchased at the retail level; the rest coming through 'discount' outlets.]

Meanwhile, the just released radio Winter Book [Jan-Mar 2006] from ARBITRON shows AIR AMERICA in New York City losing more than a third of its audience -- in the past year!

Among all listeners 12+, it was a race to the bottom for AIR AMERICA and WLIB as mid-days went from a 1.6 share during winter 2005 to a 1.0 share winter 2006.

During PM drive, host Randi Rhodes plunged to 27,900 listeners every quarter hour, finishing 25th place in her time slot, down from 60,900 listeners every quarter hour in the fall.

A network source says the radio ratings released today do not reflect the overall growth of the broadcast.

"The demos are better, and listerners trust AIR AMERICA to give them the real truth on issues and the Bush presidency," says the insider.

Developing...
Maybe Air America's problem is that they don't poll listeners under 12 so they lose the count of a good portion of their base audience?

And Markos "Screw 'em" Zuniga's book is bombing? How could that be happening. Supposedly Daily KOS has like a bazillion dedicated and loyal followers. Even one out of a hundred couldn't buy his book?

On a more serious note, this is why I don't give credence to the Democrats going anywhere but down any time in the near future. Liberals tend to overestimate their numbers and their support. They seem to think that Bush's approval ratings are a sign that people now support someone else instead, and likely a liberal candidate. That seems like faulty logic though because there doesn't seem to be any real correlation or numbers that back up their assertion. We'll just have to wait til November to see.

I agree with you. (Hope it isn't too much of a shock!) The Dems are on their way to getting their ass handed to them again. They have no idea how to connect with middle America. Bush and his cronies have given them so much to run with but they are stupid and think they can sit back and watch the approval ratings dive and win by default. They'll blow it for the midterms and probably next time around for president too. They desperately need some real leadership.

The fact is support for both parties has gone downhill hilarys numbers are falling at the same rate as bush's. It's not that we don't have faith in either party. It's that the people in general are disgusted with the way people change sides ona subject randomly to suit the others arguement, and that they are sick of people playing politics and twisting the soldiers lives to suit their arguement.

I think it has to do with Al Franken. I don't know what it is about that guys face, but everytime I see it I somehow feel like I am getting pissed off. Something about him is just incredibly annoying.

Something I notice about conservative media is that they don't tend to stick with the Republican party very often, which is probably why they are able to keep good ratings. This is especially true as of late, as the Republicans have been trying to look away from the border issues whereas the conservative talk shows have been trying to press for tighter security.

Al Franken is one of the most angry, unlikeable characters out there. He's nearly got into public fights several times and the producers of NBC's Saturday Night Live had no love for him for lots of obvious reasons.

The dems are focusing on domestic issues only during the midtrems. That have told many who are up for re-election, and those runnig against rebub incumbents that they are to stick to domestic issues or risk loosing funding from the DNC. That fascinates me.

They are not supposed to challenge "Iraq, Iran, NSA, ANYTHING, just stick to doemstic issues, such as the economy. Farking dem national comitteee are so out of touch with what they should challange the incumbents on. They will prolly not take control of either house unless they change their platform.

Most poilitcal analysts are saying that the dems wont take control in the mid-terms, but not because the people dont want change, but because the dems have picked the wrong things to fight about. One analysts said that there had never been a time in the history of our country that one party had the ability to descimate the party in power thru electoral process, like we have today, but because of the "weapons they choose to fight with (the issues they choose to adress), they will be laughed at in the polls. And I must agree with her on that !
