I want to see a comparison to one of the new Seagate 7200.10 drives

I noticed a little bit of a difference going from the 200gb 7200.8 I had before to my new 320gb 7200.10, but Im just too damn lazy to do any significant hard drive benchmarking.

Where do you guys start counting when you time your reboots? If we're talking hard drives only, you should start when the post screens go away. Overall boot times can vary a LOT depending on your system. Especially if you use a RAID controller because it has another whole controller and set of devices to detect.

EDIT: From the last post screen, it takes my system 15 second to get to the desktop and another 10-15 seconds to load my startup programs.

Theres really no way to gauge this from system to system. E30325i 2.7 did it right by ghosting, because it will be loading the same drivers, registry, programs and services.

You cant really compare yours to his a12ctic. Especially not with another OS

I start from when the system is turned on so yeah it would be far less without the post, in benchmarks i get an average read & write of 154MB/sec

you are right on this.

you cant compare, it depents on hardware and programs and drivers to load from system to system.

Yes, it is stupid to compare to another system. The only important thing to learn is the difference between the two drives on the same system using the same data on both disks.
