Default the Monaco Grand Prix!

the 7th race of the season, the Monaco Grand Prix!

not so much a race, but a game of follow the leader. qualifying is important, since passing is nearly impossible and accidents are frequent. if Schumacher/Ferrari have any aspirations for the championship, they must be hoping that Alonso has a bad weekend.

story: http://www.formula1.com/race/news/4424/757.html

Schumie wants the record for wins at Monaco (he was leading in 2004 when he had an accident and was knocked out of the race): http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=166994

JV warns that Monaco could be very dangerous: http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formul...66139&hubName=

and Rubens worries too about the qualifying session (although, methinks this is just drivers whining, since back in the old days all cars could be out since they only had 1 hour to set a fast lap, none of this single car/single lap stuff): http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=36023

What was Schumacher doing when he made that "mistake". I think it was delibrate and he should lose pole position. I still want him to win the race though.

pole for Schumie: although controversial, i don't think it will be overturned. FIA tried for years to beat down Ferrari, they did and then Renault ran away with last season. the last thing they want is another romp in the championship.

good to see Rubens out-qualify Button (aka, the best driver in F1 never to win a race) by a 7 positions. we get the British ITV broadcast here and i can't stand how the announcers continuously praise the perpetual loser. and Massa for Ferrari--what a waste. he won't be driving for the prancing horse next year.

No, I watched it, Schumie is a better driver than that, and I have seen him point a street car better than that little "lockup" He only locked up maybe 3 ft, and going under 60mph! He did it on purpose, even SHUTOFF the engine, they showed incar camera. He was turning good, then decides to go straight into the barrier, missing it by inches

He deserves his 22nd spot

Why did he do this and already tarnish a reputation he has built up over the last 10 years? Peole had already forgotten the hill and Villuenevue incidents and he goes and does this. Idiot IMO

I have never driven a Ferrari F1 car, but I have auto-crossed and driven many high end sports cars at speed out in the Hill Country (sweet roads, many resembling the CA coast but with out the ocean and people that live in CA).

That lock was an after thought. Bob Varsha and Steve Matchett both mentioned that this was a tactic used by him in his carting days. Did you watch the post-race interview? MS looked like he was in a Police interrogation. Elaborate detail, oh yeahs, hitches when Windsor dare to ask why he couldn't move the car. Ferrari should have at least gotten a penalty for a non-working reverse which all cars are supposed to have. Remember, MS even said that he tried to engage reverse, it wasn't there, and then it stalled.

I was cheering Michael on to take down Alonso. I don't like seeing Fred run away with the Championship. Same that I want the Pistons to beat Miami, but I am cheering Shaq on for the first time in my life to make it a good series. I can't stand Flabio Brontasauri (that guy LEAVES Heidi Klum?).

From F1 Live:
Quote:
Leading the attack on Schumacher was his old Benetton boss, Flavio Briatore.

He said: "I know (Schumacher) cheated."

Sir Jackie Stewart called it a 'blatant' act, while Keke Rosberg said Michael treated the F1 world like 'fools' by suggesting it was a normal driver error.

"This really brings our sport down," said the Finn. "If I was him I would retire in shame."

Keke's son, Nico, commented: "He is a Director of the GPDA and should be a model of sportsmanship for us."

Mark Webber, a traditional supporter of Schumacher, likened the act to 'Mike Tyson biting someone's ear off'.

Jacques Villeneuve said the unsporting act was 'as bad as Jerez', where in 1997 Schumacher steered deliberately into the Canadian in a failed attempt to win the title.

Villeneuve slammed: "He should have to give back his Super License if he thinks he can just say it was a mistake. Even if (Yuji) Ide had done it, it would be embarrassing."

Niki Lauda, as a former team boss, said he sympathised with Renault chief Briatore's fury, while Kimi Raikkonen added: "I don't believe that it was a real problem. He should be punished."
MS had this response: "I am guilty if the crime is driving too fast and making an error."

An error in jugement, maybe. Does he think we are all that stupid?
