Default "Indiana Jones: Fountain of Youth" demo out

That should be interesting for everyone who loved the old Indy games (like i did).

http://www.barnettcollege.com/demo.htm

Quote:
Join our hero in this 10 room playable demo, featuring beautiful & original artwork in an exotic new location! Using a new seperate storyline to the full game but including some relevant facts, you discover the paths to the mysterious Fountain! Don't forget - this is just a sample of what is to come. Look out for future demo updates!

EXPLORE the island of Bimini, MEET and INTERACT with friends and foes! Find out who's there and exactly what they are up to!

The DEMO also includes original MIDI music, animated characters and a demonstration of the fighting engine. The full game will boast many further features. There are several puzzles to solve in the DEMO, but none of these will feature in the full game.

added: Just tried it and it's pretty good so far. The dialog is funny (Who is also named "Indiana"?) and the puzzles are quite good, too.

Not bad, I like it because it's true to the original. It looks and plays exactly like Fate Of Atlantis which is good.

Cool, I love point and click adventures

I've never played the original. I'm going to try this out right now...

Heh... slow day at work

I've been playing an old game called "Albion" most of the day. Not very user friendly but its pretty cool.

LucasArts! You broke my heart. They should be taken out and dealt with painfully for not making games like this anymore.

Just finished it

Its really really well done. The writing is great and the puzzles are just right. I was stumped for a bit but I didnt need to go look up answers or anything, I eventually figured everything out.

Im looking forward to the full version, I hope they actually do it

I'll have to play the originals now.

How many were there?

Ahhh, this game hits me like a wave of nostalgia. So many good times now gone. You just don't get pure entertainment like this anymore.

Just one: Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis. At least this is the only one on which fountain of youth is based graphical, musical and gameplay wise.

If you are lucky you will be able to find the CD version of fate of atlantis which is the full talkie version. Great game. Actually it is one of my personal favorite adventure games of all time along with Grim Fandango, Broken Sword, Longest Journey, Beneath a Steel Sky and the Gabriel Knight games

There was also "Indiana Jones - The Last Crusade".

yes, and there are even other similar Lucasarts games but none of them is graphically equivalent to Fountain of Youth which tries to continue the quality of Fate of Atlantis and not of the last crusade. That's why I said "only one".

Oh ok, i thought you meant that there was only one Indiana Jones point&click adventure and yeah Fountain of Youth is based on Fate of Atlantis.

This is freaking AWESOME:
http://www.scummvm.org/

Its an emulator for the old Lucas Arts style adventure games! Yes, an emulator for games using a certain game engine (the SCUMM engine).

This is just awesome. If you have or can get ahold of any of the old games, this will almost certainly get them working perfectly with NO configuration required.

I played a bit of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1994) today on a relatively new PC running Windows XP and without SCUMM it doesnt even open. With scumm, it works PERFECTLY. Its fast, but not super speed. The sound works, there arent any glitches...

Amazing stuff. Im looking forward to getting all of the old games of this style now. This is exactly the kind of game I like.

EDIT: Btw, it has a huge amount of support for other platforms, even consoles and handhelds (Dreamcast, PS2, PSP etc.). Heres the list of different versions:
