Hi,
Oops is solid. Happens at the start of gdm. Also happens with 8756. Does not happen with 7167. Both 8756 and 8762 install clean. Attached are the nvidia bug-report and the section of syslog that has the oops. Regards, Hugo |

I have a few questions:
0) Does this also reproduce with a kernel.org kernel, or only the ck kernel? 1) If you aren't running gdm does the Oops still occur? 2) If you set NvAGP to 0 in your xorg.conf does that have any impact? 3) Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS for the motherboard? Thanks, Lonni |

Hi Lonni, thanks for replying so quick.
0. I compiled + installed the latest stable kernel from kernel.org: 2.6.16.20. Same result, oops on starting the PCI console. I attach the chunk of syslog that was readable. 1. Still occurs when startx -- vt51, that is the PCI console. Not the AGP console: startx -- vt7, that starts. 2. Has no effect. Still occurs with it set to 0. 3. Is an EP-8VTAI mobo dated 11/24/2004 that I bought from NewEgg 6 months later and installed. Almost a year ago now. All BIOS upgrades installed. Thanks, Hugo |

Hi,
On a suggestion from James van Zeeland, (remember I am running a Linux two-seater: two monitors/keybds/mice/x servers) I switched the primary video to PCI and that worked. If anyone wants to know more prompt me here. Hugo |
