I've been raggin on the thing and I swore I'd never get one, but the 360s finally became readily available in New Orleans so I broke my bank big time and grabbed one. My beloved PS2 is crying now.
For the first time I actually got to see true High Def on my HDTV, which I've had for over a year now. Watched some movie trailers in 720p and it just blew me away. And the 5.1 digital audio is amazing! I spent the first night just playing demos and ended up buying Geometry Wars and UNO. I also got Perfect Dark, DOA4, and Burnout. PDZ was kinda dissapointing as far as shooters go. Maybe I just have to get used to the controls, but I found it rather underwhelming. Burnout is just plain fun and the 5.1 digital sound is spectacular. I already had it on the PS2, but the upgrade was worth it. DOA4 is my favorite so far, though, and it's the main reason I bought the damn machine. (I'm falling in love with Christie!) I would have gotten Oblivion, but I've already got it on the PC. I prolly should have got GRAW, but I'm broke now. I needa eat. I've never played a console online before, so I was amazed how easy the whole XBOX live thing is and how many demos were available. Practically every game out for the 360 has a good sized free demo for download. I really wish they had more HD movie trailers though. I'm suprised every movie studio doesn't pay Msoft to put their trailers up. There should be hundereds of them. I'd really love to see the Superman trailer in HD. And some of the trailers are lumped into the "game trailer" category for some odd reason. And it would be really nice if it could play WMV and AVI video files from a DVD. I've got a dvd player that does that already though. I'd get the Media Center thing for the PC, but Vista is coming out soon, so I'll just have to wait. Other than that, the XBOX 360 rocks. I'm a new fanboy. What really won me over was being able to access the music on my PC through the network and play it during any game, any time. Didn't know it could do that! I never bought the xbox, always hated the thing, so the 360 really kicked my ass. Anyways, I just wanted to share my gamer bliss with someone. My gamertag is "slybri007" if yall wanna game. |

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your investment...
Xbox Live Marketplace is definitly a great innovation, and if you have a 360 and are not connected online - you are missing out. GRAW is amazing and I highly recommend it...guess I should rent DOA4 ...don't want to buy it because when/if Soul caliber 4 comes out...game over for other fighting games. And yes, would love to see more movie trailers...and downloadable content from car manufacturers for racing games, just brilliant. |

Slybri: When you do decide to get more games i would recommend fight night to you. its amazing to play through and probably one of the best looking games on the 360.
I usually wouldnt go for a boxing game but i decided to try out fight night and im glad i did. it really is awsome. Graw is a great game too and cracking to look at so would definitly be worth a purchase. Consider pgr3 aswell. its great and the best racer on the 360 imo. |

I also agree that PGR3 is the best racer on the X360. If you're a racing fan you'll love it. Burnout isn't as much a "racing" as it is a car action destruction game.

That, and the timed laps were BRUTAL. You have to memorize all the traffic patterns, and if you crash even once you have to start over since all the traffic patterns from that point on won't be the same as a perfect lap, which you NEED to have to even get bronze. And then the load times...all I want to do is restart the race, why do I have to wait 2-3 minutes! *Sigh* Ah well, turns out PGR 3 has had pretty annoying load times too, even when all you want to do is restart the race. I'm not sure how they load these levels such that they need to be reloaded to start at the beginning again, but I'm shocked they don't use a better way. At least PGR3 doesn't have rubber banding.

Burnout Revenge is more like Pac man, the way you eat up the cars in front of you. Took me a while to stop dodging them out of habit. It's not a real racer, but it's fun as hell and the crashes are spectacular. The 360 version is a lot better on load times. It's not as bad as the ps2 version, which had horrible load times. And being in HD, with the 5.1 digital sound, replaceable soundtrack, and online multiplayer, it's a lot better than the ps2 version. And that horrible DJ from Burnout 3 is gone. Hated that guy.
This summer looks pretty dry for 360 games. I'll probably get PREY on the PC. I may have to get Tomb Raider though. The demo was fun and the graphics were gorgeous. I hear it's pretty short though. Maybe I'll rent it. |

The only saving grace for PDZ is the ability to play the entire single player game in COOP mode. The online multiplayer aspect of the game is good too. Like someone mentioned previously if you want to show off the power of the 360 get a copy of Fight Night Round 3, GRAW or Kameo. I'll add you to my friends list so we can crash into each other like mad men in Burnout!!

right on! I will crash you! I'd like to try the COOP mode in PDZ as well.
One thing that's really been bugging me is about the 360 is the screen tearing. Does the 360 not have some sort of Vsynch? It's really pretty bad. Almost ruins the graphics for me. Another thing. I thought the Superman Returns game was coming out with the movie next week. Another reason I bought the 360. But apparently it's not out till Halloween! WTF? |

Some games have screen tearing and some don't. Most of the games I own don't have tearing except PDZ and FFXI. It bothers me to the point I never turn vsync off on my pc, even if it means +20fps.
Anyone want to throw in some other 360 games that have tearing? Would like to know which games I might want to avoid or know what to expect. |
