Default Painkiller bug on 7900 series?

I bought a 7900GTX about a month ago and RMA'd it because it was having those "flashing desktop lockups after exiting an artifacting program errors."
Anyway, I installed Painkiller and the BOOH expansion, updated with patch 1.64, and started it up. When it loads, I notice a quick distortion that last only a second at first, and during gameplay the pace of the action is like someone is pressing a fastforward button every two seconds. I just got a 7950GX2 and I'm still having the same problems. It is ,so far, the only game I am having problems with. I have updated all drivers and BIOS
on my hardware and it's still screwed up. Anyone else seen this?

Painkiller is the one game that even with the X2 CPU driver and Microsoft dual-core hotfix installed that I still have affinity issues with.
