Wasn't he the one who was somehow responsible for many PR disasters?

He was a great guy. I'll really miss him. It's hard to believe that he's retiring after all these years. He made the most impressive console ever, and brought Sony into the console world.
No one could ever make a console more impressive than his 1st born console. I remember in 1995 how ****ty the Super NES and Genesis versions of MK3 were and how arcade-perfect the PS1 version was. That was one of the best arcade ports ever along with Tekken. Battle Arena Toshinden was among the most impressive launch titles ever. One final thing he shall always be remembered for is all of the best Super NES tunes. Nintendo is going to be up against an almost completely differently managed Sony. |

kevpla1 I hate to break this to you, he didn't retire. Sony gave Ken what in Japan what traditionally is considered a job looking after nothing. In Japan laying people off is a foreign business technique, this method lets the employee's spend the rest of their work years with honor but unable to do damage to the company. In other words Sony considers Ken to have screwed up big time, but will treat his final years with honor. Whether or not that is actually the case, time will tell.

Actually Sony took the American way... they "retired" his ass. He is no longer working for Sony. He has an "Honorary" Chairman postion.
