BONK!

So yeah, what the title says. Remember how I had that boil come up on my chin last November? The one that grew to the size of a golfball and literally exploded? That was the first sign that my body had picked up a strand of MRSA. Here's the story:
Last Wednesday, I noticed I had a small bump or zit to come up under my arm, perfectly level with my right breast muscle. This was no ordinary bump so I suspected it to be one of those boils again. It popped and all kinds of gross stuff came out . . . however, most of it was blood, not a mix of blood and pus like the previous two. It kept filling back up and still no pus was coming out! It was getting me a little worried. To add to the problem, Wednesday afternoon/evening, I started running fever and getting the chills. Now I never get sick, never, so this was really freaking me out. I thought the boil on my side was causing it and got down pretty sick about every night last week from Weds on. Friday night came and I had to work my last work shift for the week. Things start out great, but here came the fever/chills. By 7PM (2hrs into my shift), I sat down for a sec and got real dizzy) and by 9PM, I fell asleep on the desk until time to close. I got home to check on it and IT HAD SPREAD! It went from my side, underneath my arm, and spread to my right nipple. Saturday morning, I went to a walk-in clinic and to put it in a nutshell, the doctor took one look at my side and said "Oh no! I'm not touching that. Go to the ER now!" So I picked up shop and went to a hospital ER in Nashville for them to look at it. I figured that I would be there for them to lance it, the boil to drain and then I would be on my way. Wrong. I get thrown into a hospital room and marked up for a scheduled surgery. The surgeon sliced me open, cut out 5X3 piece of tissue that was dead because of the infection/strand and "packed" me back up with dressing to cover it. The doc said the infection spread all the way from underneath my arm to almost where my lymphnodes are (my neck) all in the matter of three days. Wow. So my 11PM surgery on Saturday night was a success (I hope so) and I just got home. My disease was a bad case of staph infection, aka MRSA. It is a very common thing to get now and believe me, it sucks and it's painful. So like I said last time, WASH YOUR HANDS AND TAKE GOOD SHOWERS!!!! That is all, I hope to catch up on what's been going on since Friday afternoon during my recovery, since I'll be at the parental's house chillin and NOT GOING TO WORK!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!!!!

Hey Six... get well soon. So do the doctors know what cause this in your case? This seems infectious so if I were you I'd make sure the girly and the family get checked out.

Along with other meds, I have to say bye bye to Old Spice body wash . . . Hello Dial and some medicine stuff that I have no idea how to say/spell and shower with for the next 3-6 months. Oh! I forgot to tell this part of the recovery story. Since it is packed in, the doctor is going to let the body literally push the packing out via healing. This pushes the infection/strand/disease out instead of keeping it in. I have to go back next Wednesday for him to take some of it out . . . yay!!!! lol Of course I've had an IV in since Saturday around surgery time in the bend of my elbow and it's been at my side ever since. Talk about it "not working" lol. They just now took the IV out today and it's pretty darn sore. Good thing I'm abidextrious so I can feed myself and do other things. A funny thing is that the most painful part of the whole ordeal has been the medical tape. That stuff sticks where you don't want it to, doesn't stick where you want it to and hurts like a motha trucka when yanked off by some old doctor. IVs, no problem. Suppository, meh. But medical tape, OMG. My skin is crying a freakin river.

Oh man that's some freaky stuff. How do you think you got it? Did you visit a medical center or anything before all of this?

Man, that story is scary as hell. Especially since I'm so stubborn about seeing a doctor. Glad you're alright.
