Default OWW my tooth..or Why I love my wife..

So I had a broken tooth yesterday that was killing me. By the time I got home, I was in tears because of the pain. My wife had planned to go out with some of her friends as she hadn't been out with them in over a month. She put them on hold, made an emergency appointment at the dentist, took me there, and played dental assistant. It was my first tooth extraction experience at 29 y/o. I am so relieved now. I can't remember the last time someone has done so much for me in just one instance. It has to have been over 10 years ago if so. I am so glad to have married her; many of my exs wouldn't even have lifted a finger.

Anyone else have a similar story of selflessness?

That's awesome man. I haven't had an experience like that (breaking a tooth or having someone drop everything like that...apart from my parents, of course) but then again...I've never broken a tooth either.

How the hell did you break it?

Yeah man, did she break your tooth? Maybe that's why she was so sympathetic!

I had neglected my teeth by not going to the dentist for years (from age 19 to about 26). Just about 2 years ago, I started going again regularly and getting them put back in order. A few had decay and needed to be worked on. This is one of them that was supposed to be worked on, but hadn't got to it yet.

You could have pulled a Tom Hanks in Castaway, you pansy. Just kidding of course. I've never so much as had a cavity in my life, so I can't imagine the pain you were experiencing.

That's EXACTLY what was going through my head. I pushed like hell on the little bit I could get a grip on, but no luck. After seeing how deep it went in, there's no way I could have gotten it. The dentist used 2 full needles of novocaine to get it numb. That hurt much worse than the actual pulling.

I wish I had better teeth. I have always brushed 2-3 times a day and all that jazz but never had much luck with them. Even as a kid when I went to the dentist all the time, I still had problems. I quit going for years because I somewhat feared the dentist. I was getting work done once and the bitch that was working on me hurt my mouth so bad that I said **** it. At least I have the gift of straight teeth and never needed braces.

Its not how many times a day your brush(as long as it is AT LEAST in the morning and night), its HOW you brush.

Buy an electric toothbrush. A $100+ one. Buy a new one every 2 years. Sounds expensive, but they will save you thousands at the dentist.

My wife has used one for years and still has almost all the same issues as me. I do understand you must brush thoroughly, but I believe some of it is genetics. Some is also what you eat/drink too.

sonic toothbrush FTW.

My wife is very understanding of certain "ailments" we'll call them, that i have on a semi regular basis. it trashes my body for several days and she is always right there to keep an eye on me while i wait for it to pass.
