Default The 590 Sli Dead or What?

I recently purchased an AMD AM2 X2 6000+ CPU and saw the 590 Sli boards looked good for this. After placing the order for the MSI K9N Diamond 4 different times from 4 different vendors I contacted MSI about it. I was informed the chipset has been labeled as EOL (end of life) but that I should buy the MSI K9N SLI Platinum AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI as it's replacement. Since when does a company pull a product and suggest you purchase the previous model instead?

I found an eVga 590 Sli board that I am considering purchasing but am concerned that there are reasons the 590 was discontinued. Anyone here have any info as to what is going on here before I push the buy now button?

Get the Asus Crosshair, IMO one of the best boards I have seen, my friend just got one a few weeks ago, a lot of small but nice touches to ti too.

Thanks for the suggestion Bobby, but I have an aversion to ASUS products. To many failures over the years has pretty much soured me on there product line.

Then you certainly don't want MSI, get a Gigabyte. ASUS isn't that bad, atleast my p4p800s is unbreakable so it seems

570SLi boards are up to par with 590SLi boards. There's no real difference. If you're going to get a 570 board, Gigabyte has good ones for the money. I would suggest to buy a Gigabyte M57SLI-S4, from personal experience. It's better than the Epox 570SLi by a small stretch and the GB is cheaper. I got mine in a combo with my AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ for $200, but now the mobo and CPU dropped in price.

Actually guys it was down to a toss between the Foxcon and the Evga. MSi was just not producing enough so the limited quantities were going well over 200 bucks, the Foxcon was a close second. I ended up with the EVGA 590 Sli for about $144.
13 hundred into this new rig. I hope it holds up as well as my last 6 or 7 MSI systems have.
Hey is that nanner doin the Macerana?

The 590 is better than the 570 if you are going to do SLI 570 is x8 in sli and the 590 is x16.

I had a Foxconn and loved it.

THe 590 was EOL'd by NVIDIA because they didnt think there would be much demand, this was before the AMD price drops.

Maybe you should hold off and get a new AMD AM2+/AM3 board?

Evga 590SLI works like a charm here. I hope new Barcelona Based AM2 CPU will fit fine on this board. That would be nice and easy upgrade to quad core

Too late. Got the Evga, should be here Friday or Monday. Still trying to decide If I want to use XP/Vista 64 or 32 bit. I bought some HDD swappable enclosures so I can switch between OS's. Might just get 3 more 200G drives and run all 4.

Maybe it's Peanut Butter Jelly Time....

It sure would be nice of AMD to stick with this socket design a few years and let us move forward that way. I understand the AM2+ will just be a BIOS update.
