It's entirely unnecessary--WinXP removes drivers just fine when you uninstall them.

If a driver file is in use by Windows, it can't be killed, but safe mode uses generic drivers so the nVidia drivers won't be in use.

It is a *VERY* good idea to go to "SAFE MODE IN VGA MODE" to uninstall drivers specially video drivers.
Trust me.. i have had experience wiht ATI's and its almost impossible to remove ati drivers wiht the uninstallation utility... as for nvidia like the few good men say... the driver file may be used... now it keeps a log of what is being used and deletes it on the next reboot (i.e. win98 wininit.ini). Its also good to do so in VGA mode because not many drivers are being loaded that depend on video... espeically if you are not an expert in services and other software. Better safe than sorry... always safe mode uninstalls. I mean technically you can make a list of files to delete.. and delete the reg keys... and delete the files manually... but hey ... i dont think any of you wanna do that.. ehhehe i had to do that for my ati many times. |
