Yes, you have the notorious flickering problem that those of us with keen eyes can notice Unfortunately this problem is related to the first revision of the card itself and no matter what manufacturer you get the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra from, it will have this problem. I've been through numerous cards and each one has done it. Currently, there is NO solution, but nVidia has been notified of the problem and third party distributors are working with nVidia to solve this problem. I'm just returning mine tomorrow.

Which games caused screen flickers? I never had these issues with games, I just got Leadtek 5900 Ultra on Monday.

It possible it could be your monitor that caused flickers because that your monitor could be much older, it could not handled the new 5900 Ultra. I remember similar problem when my sister upgraded to Windows XP with her Voodoo Banshee and on 15 inch monitor the screen resolution 1024x768 was flicked so badly. She then went to bought cheap new 17 inch monitor and the flickers gone away.

The two games Ive been testing it out with is SWG and Pirates of the carb. After I took my ti4200 out and put my 5900 in, I booted up SWG and was like WTF?

I have a samsung 900NF and have tried 85 and 100 refresh rate. Its a different kind of flicker than a refresh rate prob would give you.

SWG seems to have some lighting issues with the 44.03s and possibly newer ones. Try using a high quality DVI or VGA cable depending on which one you use like this one http://www.soundcity.com/product.php...oduct_id=12170

I ran a search in this forum using the keyword flicker.

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/sear...der=descending

Others are reporting similar problems.

I experienced a similar problem with a reference GeForce FX 5600 Ultra, which I reported to NVIDIA. Barely visible vertical bars that were about an inch in height would appear at the bottom of the screen and move up the screen.

It was similar to the effect you sometimes see on TV when a monitor is shown. I experienced the problem in 2D and 3D, but it didn't happen when I disconnect the external power connector from the graphics card.

It is a problem with the hardware, none of that is going to help... It's been addressed many times on the eVGA.com support forums...

Yeap, I have a PNY 5900U and get the same flickering in 3D...

Thanks for starting this thread, because I was beginning to think it was my system. I already did one exchange, thinking it was a defective card. (This little glitch is already costing them!!!)

I'm running at 100 Hz, and tried both the VGA, & DVI port w/DVI-VGA adapter. I've even tried it on (2) different systems. Nothing changes.

So any news on weather this can be addressed with the bios or drivers, or is everybody with 20/20 vision SOL.
I guess I'm a little apprehensive, because I've got less then a week to return this board to CompUSA, before I have to start dealing with PNY.

BTW: 'surfhurleydude' maybe you can share some of those messages from eVGA. I've been there, but there forum is for members only...

Ron

I have to say im very surprised reading through these comments. This seems like a pretty serious problem if it affects more than just the 5900.

I wonder who over at nVidia made the choice to get dx9 cards out as fast as possible when the first (and probably one of the only for a while) dx9 games wont be out until later this year earilest. Seems to me they want to lead the industry instead of follow it. They should of still focused more on dx8 games, release a another refresh to the TI line that has killer dx8/AA/AF performance and maybe some dx9 compatibility (for braggin rights). This would all be happening while they work on the FX5800, cause if that 5800 came out before Christmas last year using DDR1 memory it might of actually impressed us a little. Maybe after all the FX core was not ready and the DDR2 problem was not responsible for the delay, but we never know if DDR2 was never in the picture (and they werent making stupid home movies) it might of helped everything else move along.

Dont really know where this rant came from, i guess its been on my mind and this latest problems got to me. I know if i brought home a 5900FXU for the second time and had the same screen problems on my 600$ monitor i would return it for an ATI without thinking twice.

Default flickering for all FX class GPUs?

Is this flickering supposed to happen on all NV3x GPUs? Is the flickering problem visble on LCDs? I own a pair of NV30 cards that I don't notice as havign any any flickering problem.
