Talking Building new computer, need help.

Over the next 2 weeks I will be building a new computer, I will be ordering the parts this week and receiving and putting them together next week. well, if it all turns out right, this is what I am buliding:

Lian Li Aluminum Case(haven't decided which yet)
Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz 533 FSB Northwood
1024 PC 3200 DDR
MSI Sys 648 Chipset Based Mainboard
80 Gig HD 7200 RPM
Geforce 4 Ti 4200(until NV30)
19" Monitor(have to find one)
then network card and a cd burner.

That MSI Sys 648 Max-L Mainboard is okay, but I want something that supports DDR 400. Any better boards? Also, what is a good monitor to get?

HUGE fan of Sony monitors--the Sony HMD-A400 looks fantastic and would go well with an aluminum case...

How come you not going with RDRAM?

Surely that's the only way to get P4 performing properly!!

Don't know, the MSI R648 Mainboard is more expensive than the 648L MAX mainboard. Plus, even on price watch, I can get PC3200 DDR for alot less than RDRAM. Besides, I am only gonna be using this system for a few months anyways and then giving it to my family, so I don't wanna put that much into it.

Gonna give it to your family so you can go back to your P3 system?

But if you want a board that supports DDR 400, check this one out from
Soyo.

It's a VIA chipsset, but it looks like it has some pretty sweet specs.

May wanna go with the Samsung 955 DF, it's a good monitor, not as good as the 900NF but it's cheaper, especially if you just gonna give it to the family. Also may wanna check out out the Cooler Master ATC 201 case, you can get it for 158$ at newegg, and man it's a sexy beast. Comes with 2 80mm front intakes, and a top 80mm blow hole. There is 2 models. They are both all aluminum one is black with a hybrid black/brushed aluminum front. It looks really sharp. Probably what im gonna get for my next system.

Regards,
Mike
