I probably shouldn't have upgraded in the first place, considering my i7 920 was doing fine, but I couldn't resist. ![]() |

My next upgrade will almost certainly be intel, but I can't complain at all about the bang for the buck I've gotten from AMD. |

To answer the question, no I didn't want to know why you buy AMD. Thanks for telling me though.

My current rig (on my sig) is the first Intel rig I have built. I love AMD. They offer consistent, comparable results to Intel at a much better cost.

I opted for a 2500k. I'm even using the so called bugged ports. 5% over 3 years will fail. I won't have this nearly that long anyways!
I'm at 4.8Ghz stable now, going for 5.0 next I love this thing!!! newegg will replace the board in a month or so when they get the new ones. No big deal imo.![]() |

Thanks! I don't want to kill it with voltage though. I'm actually really happy with volts / heat at 4.8Ghz. Will try for 5.0 but it if needs a lot more voltage I'll probably stick with 4.8.

What's considered the max voltage for that CPU?

1.35 - 1.52v. It varies depending on the forum and who you ask. No one is really sure. Its 32nm so I'm comfortable under 1.4v for 24/7 overclock.
Check this out...these things are so freakin' fast I love it!! ![]() |

Not to be a complete dick... but the dual core 775's have been EOL for 3 years now. Of course their prices will go up. Also, heard it all before, "value"... Better than the low and mid range offerings at the same price.
You know why intel prices the i7 series so expensive? ... there's no competition. Seriously, there's no competition in speed and overclocking potential. If you compare a "high end" part from each manufacturer it's not even a comparison. Also... I have used an AMD before, Had an Opteron 165. It was my first (only) dual core and was great.... Great "value". I was also in highschool and had no money. I also bought this Q6600 for the same price as that 165.... You know why? "Value" .... AMD had no comparable offering at $165 when I bought this cpu. Their Phenom II line wasn't out and everything about the AMD lineup sucked. So yes, you're right.... for now. The value meter will shift back to intel eventually and truthfully AMD only grabs that "value" win when they're at their best... at their worst, 3-4 years ago, when they don't have a competing product they're just flat out the cheapest with no comparable value per dollar.
