Default SATA Issues Nforce4

Ok I replaced my IDE drives with a single 400gb SATA drive and sold my IDE drives now preformance seriously sucks and I put everything into a P4 2.6 because my 939 locks up now every so often. Happens even with no drivers installed. Works fine in the PEntium4 with an 865G chipset but it leaves me with AGP and well a P4 but unless i can solve this i dont have an option

Does the drive have any jumpers on the back?

Most recent ones don't but its worth it to look.

Also, try another cable. They tend to go bad randomly and you'll have some very strange problems with a bad SATA cable.

My SATA drive also seemed to appear as an IDE device in the dev manager when I had nf4, but under "current transfer speed" it said SATA Gen1.

In your device manager, make sure your drive is not running in PIO mode...but rather DMA mode, which would be correct as far as nf4 shows them. Somewhere on that screen is also where is displays the "SATA Gen1" verification.
