I'm curious if some of the Cinema add-on's and high resolution texture packs that work with HL2 and EP1 will also work with this one. It seems this one is a bigger bump in terms of textures, so I doubt they will work well, if at all.

That would be annoying, and IMO is why the episodic model doesn't work. Or at least, it will never work for a company like valve.

Personally I am getting it mainly for TF2, as I really liked TF and TFC. Portal looks fun as well, but I don't care much about EP2. I'll probably play it just because I have it, but I mostly lost interest in HL2. Valves implementation of "episodic gaming" really screwed that franchise up.

The guys who did the cinematic mod are probably already working on one for EP2.

TF2 is the MAIN reason you should get the orange box. It is by far a better game than EP2 can ever hope to be.

what i found out since having my new components and now dual booting XP and vista

if Steam is installed on a spare non OS drive you can run steam and the games without any changes from either vista or XP

which was handy because i was getting crashes with episode 1 and cinematic mod in Vista

Got my copy coming in the morning overnight. Cant wait to play episode 2 as everyone is saying its great. Portal also looks interesting and I hear it ties into the story.

Cool

It's the 10th here, but I has to wait till tomorrow afternoon because Valve is living in the past.

I really can't wait for Portal. Screw EP2, I just wanted TF2 and Portal to begin with. I'm going to get up about an hour early just to play it lol.
