Why are you guys happy with 35 - 45FPS???
For everyone that says the 8800GTX is fast enough, nope... not even close. I want something thats truly 4 to 5X faster. Thats what you would need to get the game running Minimum 60FPS at 1920X1200 4XAA/Multi-sample - 16Xaf |

**** even COD4 drops to around 40 FPS at times with No AA.
WTF? This hardware is weak, bring on the 9800 GTX's in SLI. And even then I am going to want more power. Source Engine FTW!!! 150FPS+ |

call of duty four, single superclocked ultra at 655/1665/2300. I average 60fps thourgh out the whole demo. and benched it with fraps at 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF everything maxed out, my q6600 at 3.5Ghz I have another ultra sitting right here, but 680i has been nothing but problems for me so I am only using one with my p35. I dont know why you think 35-40 fps sucks, I mean the game doesnt have to 60fps constant just because you want it to, as long as the game doesnt go below 30fps I am good. and I am happy. I dont need no 9800GTX, just so I can get more frames on the screen even though my eyes cant see anything more than 30FPS. the game should not go below 30 I am quiet happy if it doesnt. |

the reason source engine runs so fast is cuz its using pre baked lighting and shadowing. the same type of lighting and shadowing we had in 2002. u see the hit the fps takes when u turn on the flashlight and it casts real time shadows. now imagine those for every light source throughout the world. source engine is not amazingly optimized as u guys think.

Also if you average 60 you are dropping under that alot. I want my average at 90+ fps (so I have head room to dip into the high 60's as my low.) I can see and feel 60fps. |

Haven't seen much info on this yet, but does this game support DX10 and/or 64bit, multicore support, yadda yadda?
EDIT: does this (demo) support.... Cause basically I'm wondering wether to put this on the 64bit or just use XP for it?

Getting 9fps. I think its the sound. It stutters on intro so i'll reinstall the sound drivers. Failing that, I will go back to onboard.

you make too many assumptions, lol. I mean how the heck do you know I am dropping below 30 alot. I beat both demos, cod4 and timeshift, My average in timeshift which I just did is 54fps, and my minimus was 33. and cod minium was 38 and average was 60.
I played through both demos without any slowdowns. I mean none, both games were smooth as silk even under heavy intense action. average is average, dont make assumptions, minimum frames in the 30's is more than accepatable because you cant see more than 30fps period. LOL< you can see and feel 60fps, haha, wow you must have some robotic eyes or something, human eyes cant see and feel anything higher than 30fps, and the tv shows are at 27fps, you should call your local stations and tell them to increase the framerate to 90fps, because your shows are choppy. thats the funniest statement I have heard in a long time, you can see and feel 60FPS< lol. yea at my resolution and all the eye candy on I am more than happy averaging 60's, and trust me that low is because when I die in the COD4 or timeshift demo, fraps lowers the frames per second when the screen refreshes, If I dont benchmark it COD4 demo never even goes in the thirties. if the game stutters you can even feel 90FPS< smooth gameplay has nothing to do with fps. source engine is old and valve is known for taking full advantage of their engine, they are one of the best when it comes to optimizing the games, that is why you see such high frame rates with source engine. by the way I count the average not the minimum because I am not playing at the minimum, I am playing at average. o well I dont want to argue with someone who can see and feel 60fps. |

I know what I am trying to say is as long as the game is smooth all you need is 30fps, everywhere I have seen even the all the review sites they have all mentioned that minimum frame rate in the 30's and average of 60's is what a gamer desires. I said my average was 60, and he assumed that I was going below 30. the game is smooth and as long as it is smooth my eyes cant see anything higher than 30, slowdowns are what bother me the most and I encountered none of those in either game. There was absolutely no lag what so ever, I call that more than playable. |

the fact is many people can differentiate between 30 and 60, and even 60 and 100+. just because u dont see a diff above 30 doesnt make his point invalid

I just completed the demo twice
![]() Played on maxed out settings, no vsync, 2x AA at 1024x768. Runs like a charm, im quite surprised. Gameplay wise, the game turned out to be what i expected. Same as the 1st timeshift demo in terms of feel and movement. The better game engine makes it 10 times better than before. Time shifting abilities just has awesomeness written all over it. Its really cool to freeze time and let out a whole pack of bullets at them then unfreeze time to watch them die. I might actually consider this. ![]()
