This is from gamespot:
Report: Japanese publishers doubt Wii longevity Basically, some are starting to doubt it, no big deal so far. But it is interesting to hear these talks this early on.

I can understand where they are coming from. So far almost everyone who has jumped on board is doing so to grab what is leftover from the Nintendo lineup. Even in that, most companies are not writing anything particularly new or exciting. Does the Wii have the ability to last a long time? Maybe, however this Christmas will still be a big seller for the console.. That one trick pony is still riding high in the saddle.

True...true. Out of all my wii games, the majority are first party. The only decent ones I have which aren't made by nintendo are Raving Rabbids and Carnival Games (although most don't like this one). All of the upcoming games on my to buy list are also made by nintendo.

Developers aren't "scared" of the Wii. It has the largest install base of any console (I believe it recently surpassed the 360). And the PS3 sales are in the toilet so if you combine the 360 with the PS3 units it isn't that much more. And it is not easy to port a 360 game to the PS3. It took them a year to port Oblivion over. They have similar input devices and graphical horsepower, so a conversion is possible, unlike the Wii where it has to be completely redesigned, but the architecture between the two is very different and any game will take a while to port. |
