I have a Panasonic PT-500U LCD projector connected to the DVI port of my Gigabyte PCIe 7600GT. I'm using Gentoo with 2.6.23 kernel and nvidia-driver 100.14.19. The motherboard is an ASUS P5B flashed with the current BIOS.
When booting the computer I never see the POST messages. I also don't see GRUB or any Linux init messages. The first video I see is when X loads. The video in X is fine. If I try to switch to VT1 (or any other VT) I get a blank screen on the projector. I suspect the problem is because the EDID information on the projector may be invalid and is causing a problem for the 7600GT when detecting the display and trying to set a resolution. In the past, I have used low-end video cards on a different computer with this projector and did not see this same problem. Attached is my nvidia-bug-report. Are there any kernel module settings I can use to get a console on the Linux box? Is there a motherboard and/or system BIOS setting I should verify? |
