Default Some BD players cannot handle BD+

Playback Problems Reported on 'Silver Surfer,' 'Day After Tomorrow' Blu-ray Discs
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/1035
"The most severe problems have been reported on Samsung's BDP-1200 and LG's BH100, which are both said to be incapable of playing back the discs at all. Less catastophic issues (error messages and playback stutter) have been reported for Samsung's BDP-1000. The discs appear to play back fine on all other Blu-ray players (including the PlayStation 3), although users have reported lengthy load times of up to two minutes."

I guess that's one good thing about the PS3's BD support being so software based I guess.

It is software based right?

not sure, but profile 1.1 uses two hardware video decoders, no clue how they will get around that on ps3.

it will get even more interesting with profile 2.0

Oh, + 2 for pops . . .for his service
sorry, but he is right, its not often when he is right, but this time he is.

sony rushed out a standard that wasn't finished. People that adapted the tech right of the bat will be having problems. Because their players won't meet the 1.1 profile.

Its been over a year since BD launched, and standard still isn't finished.

And they keep releasing players that will be incompatible with 1.1. Thank God Samsung woke up and halted their upcoming BD player and hybrid player. It makes no sense to release either when the spec is a month from being "complete."

The BD camp releasing incompatible players is good news for the HD-DVD camp, nothing sells a product better than the other side of the fence driving you away.

All BD players now can handle BD+, thanks to new firmware udates from manufacturers last week.

http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/005671.html

One Samsung BD player owner downloaded the firmware from Samsung website and updated it, Silver Surfer worked fine.
