Hm, I was googling a while before using "indirect rend." and "loose binding", conclusion were mixed. However loose binding for me makes compiz much more smoother under load.

Any nvidia experts here, care to comment?

Another driver, and no solution yet...

I'm feeling abandoned...

Here is this bug with driver 169.12, instead of black window, you can see garbage.
This is a tooltip inside geany, gtk+ app.

bump

nvidia, will you take a users hardware to find this bug, seriously? This is getting a little bit out of hand with the number of users experiencing the bug and how long the bug has been open.

Is this a confirmed nvidia bug?

OR

Is this a compiz/linux/gtk/x-windows/composite bug?

Unless it's the first, I wouldn't come here for support.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...in/+bug/151168

all evidence so far shows that this is most probably nvidia drivers bug

can we donate some hardware, nvidia? we're willing to help out, you just have to work with us instead of popping in once every 2 months to say "we still haven't been able to reproduce the bug." we will HELP you reproduce it, if you give us a chance and put some effort in.

Yeah, I guess nVidia doesn't have enough of their own hardware.

As I understand, nvidia makes only chips for their graphic cards, so I'm not surprised if they wouldn't have enough hw for testing, especially in smaller linux developing studio.
Though as customer probably you don't care about this, the problem should be fixed.
Btw, has anyone tried to raise AGP memory in bios, as suggested on ubuntu-launchpad (if you do have AGP)? Probably thats why I cannot reproduce it either even without loose binding.

As I understand it, nVidia designs whole cards aswell, the so called "reference cards". Which other manufacturers may use, and/or alter for their own liking.

But I still think it's quite unrealistic to think that the nvidia linux guys doesn't have the hardware.
