video display problem
I recently upgraded to OpenSuSE 10.3 from 10.1 and replaced my old 440MX card with a GeForce 6200 (lspci gives "01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1)" ) and now I'm stuck with a weird video playback issue:
I can play any video file (using kaffeine with xine backend), but if the output is on the tv-out part of the card (i.e. I'm viewing it on my projector and not on my lcd monitor) _and_ I stop the player at any time during playback, I'll get garbled video output in any player (mplayer, vlc, xine) from any file in any format after that. Everything displays normally in every respect on both outputs except for the area the movie should be displayed on. This does not happen if I'm playing the movie on the lcd monitor to begin with, but once the error comes up, the issue will remain on the lcd as well as on the projector. I can fix it by switching to another user or to a terminal ( e.g. ctrl+alt+f? ) and then back to my session again.
I realize this is probably not something anyone can whip up a answer to right of the bat, but in the absence of any errors in any logs, I was hoping someone would know if this is a driver issue or is this a Xorg issue or help me narrow it down somewhat.
thanks in advance.
