Default Re: The Witcher feedback

I just progressed to chapter III (not a lot of time on my hands, plus I want to play through the game exploring everything) and I'm pissed about the slowdown in the merchant quarters.

Maybe an hardware enthusiast site is not the best place for such a rant, but THIS ENGINE SUCKS!!!

Even turning down the detail, I can barely reach 10 fps. Using low detail and with a thick fog covering most of the screen this game really looks worse than Morrowind played on a vintage system and still runs much slower.

I am really disappointed to how bad PC games runs nowadays without the latest and hottest hardware (and sometimes even with that, too). This situation is really turning me away from PC gaming .

yeah man, I guess you can't expect much out of your rig anymore. I would suggest you to look into getting at least a 8800 GT.. what PSU do you have? how much memory do you have installed in your pc? what drivers are you using?

you can't really expect budget hardware to perform at a good level after such a long time especially with all these new games coming out.

Then again the Neverwinter Nights 2 engine never ran too great to begin with, luckily with my configuration it runs perfect

The thing is that, aside the textures which are really great, the rest of the graphic engine is far from spectacular. Keep in mind, also, that I'm using a "low" resolution for nowadays standards: 1024x768.

Once you turn off full screen FX, grass and foliage, shadows and dynamic lighting there's little else left to do rather than rendering geometry. I recently played Half Life Ep2 at full detail except HDR/Bloom (which I don't like anyway) and I never experienced such severe framerate drops.

Until I switch to a more powerfu PSU (which might be problematic, as my PC is built inside a Micro ATX case) I won't be able to install graphics cards which require more than ~80W of power.

The engine doesn't suck. That Engine has powered a lot of great games. NWN, KotOR, Jade Empire.

Yeah that's right I said the engine doesn't suck, you wanna fight about it? /guy from Family Guy.

If I bought it from the UK it would be uncensored? If so, someone recommend a good shop over there to get it that ships to the US.
