This runs good on my rig and the EAX (Alchemy for Vista) suggestions earlier in the thread work perfectly. I have all details maxed except AA is at 2x and I see no slowdowns so far.

The fighting style is not what I'm used to, but I've figured it out and its not bad. Just takes time.

I will really get into The Witcher once I finish Jericho.

I'm considering switching to an overhead view - the quick camera movements in OTS can sometimes screw up your attack combos causing you to click away from the enemy you're attacking. But it's really not a bad combat system. Very weak compared with the rest of the game though. I usually find myself treating the combat-related quests as a chore, eagerly anticipating the next story scene.

Not sure of I have encountered a bug. When I reached the swamp area in chap 2 and talk to gramps you start the escort quest to get him to the tower area, well on the while he was following me there was a cave so I went inside did the cave than came out and he was back at his original spot. When I went and talked to him again he just wont follow me anymore so now I cannot complete the escort quest. Has this happened to anyone else? Wonder if I just skip that quest will I be able to continue with the process for the main quest line?

Your computer sucks

Stop whining and bashing games just because your PC is old crap

I am really disappointed to how bad PC games runs nowadays without the latest and hottest hardware (and sometimes even with that, too). This situation is really turning me away from PC gaming .
Go buy a console then and stop whining like a child

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the US version of the game for the CD check with the a "backup" version of the game? I just checked out Atari Uk and I can download the game from there, but they want $70 bucks for the digital download version without manual or any other goodies. Just wondering if I can swing by my local EB Games, grab a copy for $45 bucks, and then download the uncensored version and use my purchased game disc. From what I understand, all the swearing, sexually suggestive scenes, and nudity have been removed from the North American versions which is a real bummer.

What sort of decoder ring do I need to makes heads or tails from that? I just swung down to EB Games and picked up a boxed copy of Witcher. I am going to try downloading a backup copy of the UK version, and see if I can play the full version of the game with my family friendly North American disc.

The developers themselves said they had rewritten large portions of the engine so, for what we know, it might be very different from the original Aurora.

Not that it was a bright or blazingly fast engine by itself. It was also designed 6 years ago so by now it should have reached its limits. I am still convinced that Source (or the Unreal 2.x engine) wouldn't have problems in handling The Witcher much better than this Aurora derivative.

PS: Make this thread a sticky plz
