I've got no issues playing this game performance-wise under Vista. No crashes or anything. There are load times between environments, but it's a lot like Neverwinter Nights. They aren't long either. Unlike NWN2 however, it's actually fun so far and I'm pretty impressed. I've been waiting for a game, and RPG especially with some depth. I wish the game speed were a little quicker, but oh well, it's not a detraction.

All detail maxed out, but it won't let me enable EAX effects for some reason.

1.1 patch
Vista 32-bit
e6600@3.24ghz
2gb ram
evga 8800gts superclocked 640mb
sb x-fi fatality

Hmm why release a game and then within a week they have already a 1.1 patch with a lots of bug fixes, why not wait a week or more and get it all fixed before even think about releasing it.

games go into production about 1 month before release
so they have been working on that patch for about 1 month and 1 week

same thing with hellgate.. there is a huge patch for the game on release

At least patch 1.1 is only 100 mb compared to the 1 gig patch that two worlds had.

Oblivion was plenty dark in the Oblivion gate strongholds. Try some environment mods as well, if you want more darker periods outside of those strongholds.

Game runs great here Vista X64 running at 1680x1050 4XAA/16XAF set in game and the level loads are quick, albeit running 4GB ram
No crashes yet in 4+ hours -unpatched as of yet
Definitely "better" than Oblivion, gameplay alone is so far 10 times more interesting

While I agree Oblivion and The Witcher are completely different, how do they compare in terms of game length, number of total quests and world size? Anyone know for sure?

QFT

I got the game last night. One of the local stores as usual broke release date again.

I was having issues, but I just had to change the AA from 16AA enhancing to App control, it's running like a dream now and looks amazing thanks to the clever use of Depth of Field.

Also got my first "Girl Card".

CD P stated the main quest is ~80hours! and the game is ~120hours completing all side quests...that's huge, even "if" those are exagerated abit..its still a ton of game play value, especially if its a good RPG

Do you have the latest 1.1 patch AND the recommenced Hotfix from the readme?

I'm running 64bit and it's been running great. Even after messing with graphics options and alt tabbing mid game!
