Again, for anyone running DX10, you need to turn the shaders down for better performance. There is around a 20fps performance hit between medium and very high on this setting. Screw all the other in-game settings.. leave them as they are (on very high if you have a GTX/Ultra.) At the most they will make a 1-2fps difference in framerate. Shaders are where it's at, and there doesn't seem to be any way to compensate for them--at the moment. Hopefully Nvidia can release a new driver that'll bring out more performance.

Post-processing makes zilch difference in my framerate when going from very high to high/medium. But if I adjust the shaders I get a 10fps hit from medium to high and another 10 frame drop from high to very high.

Try it and see. Been confirmed on two GTX rigs now in Vista.
Well for me post processing on very high cause a lot of mouselag.

I'm getting 22 - 37 FPS with all settings at medium except water detail (water in this game is BEAUTIFUL) at 1280x1024 with no AA. Perfectly playable with the built-in motion blur. My system is as follows:

AMD Opteron 165 (oc'ed at 2.7Ghz)
ASRock Dual939-SATA2
2GB OCZ Platinum PC3200
PNY 7900gt (1.45V modded, oc'ed at 636/717, Z-Tweaked_v158.19 drivers)
WinXP Pro 32bit

here is the comparison i was talking about

DX10 32bit - very high details

DX9 64bit - high details

notice how the mountain in the distance looks better in DX9 64bit... also anyone else noticed that everytime you run crysis it turns off the windows pointer shadow... annoying having to renable it every time

DX10 is much prettier indeed. What are the settings and framerate on those screenshots respectively?

You mean 1920x1080? I don't think it's reasonable to expect cutting edge games to run at that resolution.

I'm running at 1680x1050, dx10, Very High textures, Models and Water...Low shadows and Low Sound...everything else on Medium. Not silky smooth but very playable and looks pretty impressive.

This on a weak AMD x2 4200 and 8800GTS

Yeah, DX10 distant textures are very blurry. Bug?

I see.. I have only tried comparing an all high settings DX9 vs. an all very high settings DX10 (except Post Processing on medium) and I noticed much more realistic looking water in DX10, it was like how the water and waves moved. Can you have the pretty DX10 water with only high shaders? Is the good looking water depended on the wheter the water is set to high or very high?

Seriously, are you 100% sure you didn't mix them up? It's not that I don't believe you, I just want to be sure!
