I've been reading over at AVS and got a couple PMs from some people who have experienced the problem and not only is the light engine replacement covered until the Samsung waranty (as I figured it would be), but they WILL come to my house and do it...no shipping necessary.

And there have been reports of some lens being replaced which also fixed the prism/halo is issue.

It's so weird though...I only noticed it on the Scorpion King HD DVD...not at all on the NIN HD DVD, not at all while gaming on the 360 and not at all on regular TV viewing.

And even in The Scorpion King, it was barely noticeable. I seemed to have lucked out in that sense, I guess.

Other than that little problem, I absolutely LOVE this set. The PQ is stunning. I never want to be away from it and its nuturing 1080p glow of awesome.

I think the Samsung chassis is really sharp looking

It is...very sleek. I'm a big fan of pretty much everything this TV offers.

The biggest thing for me is the dual coaxial inputs. It sounds lame, but I'm just getting OTA HD for now since I can't justify the extra $70/mo it ends up costing for Time Warner's HD package (and all the extra crap they FORCE you to get in order to have it)...anyway, on my Westinghouse, I'd have to constantly switch between the antenna and cable by unscrewing/rescrewing etc.

Now, I just choose the TV source and hit the "antenna" button to switch between the two. No channel scanning each time. It's fantastic.

OTA HD is the best HD there is other than HD media. Cable/Sat "HD" is HD-lite.

it looks awesome, that's for sure. it's just annoying that the signal tends to crap out momentarily if i walk around.

I've only got OTA HD. The 1080i and 720p channels do look very nice, especially the special Southern Cross HD demo channel . Except the Australians standards are screwed and 576p is classed as HD and many networks have chosen to only go that far.

Well, technically it IS HD.

Anything over 480p is "high definition" regardless of it actually meeting the standards/requirements to be labled as such.

Spend a few hundo extra but get 0% interest and have the TV now...especially after reading some of the horror stories about the White Glove delivery service from 'zon.

So I went into one of the BBs that had it in stock and was looking. The home theater manager came by and asked if I had any questions. The set was retailing for $2599 so I asked if they matched online prices and he said they definitely did for BB.com. I asked if they matched other sites like Amazon and he said not usually but asked how much BB.com had it vs. Amazon. I told him and he brought me over to the computer to look at some numbers.

After a minute or two he turned around and said, "I'll give it to you for $1999.99 if you buy it right now."

****in' a. How could I say no to that price + 0% financing for 14 months? I'm picking it up tomorrow around 1:30pm. I'm leaving work early for a "doctor's appointment" and will be out the rest of the afternoon.

I bet we make some good margin off of that tv, thats why the manager was cool with discounting it. You would be amazed how much margin we make on TV's.

Well I figure if Amazon is selling it for $1900, they've still gotta be making some money on it, and he gave to me for $100 more than that, so yeah...I bet BB made out just fine.
