I have somewhat significant overscan on my Hitachi RP CRT, but frankly I decided I could put up with it rather than taking the inevitable quality hit that I'm sure you take if you scale down the video.

The overscan with my nVidia card (with MythTV) is not more than I get using my Samsung HD receiver.
