Uh, no they haven't. Most have been claiming post-processing or some other setting is mostly responsible for the low framerates. I've seen shaders mentioned very, very little. In fact, late yesterday I had read through that entire thread and not seen a single person mention it until I posted back-to-back screens from medium to very high shaders at the same locale with a variation of 18fps.

Like Legend, I posted about it a few times trying to help others while my comments went mostly ignored and people continued putting along with very high shaders enabled while cursing Vista/Crytek/EA/Nvidia.

I've found setting mouse sensitivity to about 90% or around there, and turning on mouse smoothing helps play. At least for me.

Your shots look good Legend and I was suggesting you were lying in anyway. Rather that most people that post FPS shots above 40 @ 1680x are not taking shots of dense foliage with depth of field. Usually it's shallow depth of field or near water, not in dense underbrush.

I played the demo through @ 1680x all high save shader, textures and water very high and found performance acceptable. Yes I did go below 30FPS in fight scenes at times.

I'll go do a few suicide runs and post a action shot or two

As Xion suggests, I will also try reducing only shaders and see how it impacts performance. I am curious and haven't tried that yet.

Shaders on high instead of very high will give you a nice FPS boost while not sacrificing to much in terms of image quality.

Honestly, the only settings you should run at very high are textures, objects, water and sound.

Run all the others at high for best performance/visual treat.

Yeah I would imagine you would have to scale down even more as 1680X1050 is pushing the envelope.

Dude just follow the instructions given on the link that I posted to you. Its not that diffcult but for some reason your having a hard time with it. Maybe you should just leave it alone.

Well im out, gotta get some sleep.

Ok a few quick tests just to show variation with the shader setting, DX10 path-

All very high

How I play, all high, shaders, textures and water, very high

All Very high, shaders set to high-

Legend's suggestion, texture, object, water, sound = VH, all else high-

Medium shaders, rest to very high

All medium for the hell of doing so-

If you are having FPS problems definitely set it all to high and perhaps even reduce shaders to medium in extreme low performance instances. BTW I tried Texture, Object, Water, Sound, Very high, and all else high @ 1024x. I got 54FPS in shot one and 43 in two.

Well I read it straight from one of their pages (interviews) on the net. I will see if I can dig it up.

I really dont know why your so shocked of this? a lot of people are aware that Crysis is going to take specific advantage of a 64bit OS.

For speed, yes, but not graphically. All I can find is mention of the speed increase...

"Crysis will also take advantage of 64-bit CPUs. Crytek has had experience working with new technology, since it released a patch for Far Cry last year to take advantage of the new 64-bit processors from AMD and Intel. However, while 64-bit usually doesn't bring any measurable performance increase in games (most games just take advantage of 64-bit's larger memory space), it appears that it will provide better performance in Crysis. According to Yerli, the 64-bit version "will bring a performance difference of up to 10 to 15 percent on each thread" compared to the 32-bit version."
