Theres a rumour going around the internetz, that if you tweak some settings you can improve performance, is this true ?

This was said in a interview.

Things they said they will make Crysis take advantage of

64bit
Dual Core
SLI

If i also remember correctly they said that using 64bit over 32bit can also gain some performance...i am assuming they mean a bit more quality for the same performance..as which is pointed out in the screenshots with the details on mountains..which is always a good thing.

However, while 64-bit usually doesn't bring any measurable performance increase in games (most games just take advantage of 64-bit's larger memory space), it appears that it will provide better performance in Crysis. According to Yerli, the 64-bit version "will bring a performance difference of up to 10 to 15 percent on each thread" compared to the 32-bit version."

Well since I have access to both 32 and 64 bit I can clearly see that 64 bit displays sharper and more detailed textures background mountains. My pics show this too if you just open your eyes and look at it.

64bit offered these same types of enhancements along with speed increases in Farcry.

Legend, the thing is that with Directx10 you get a different color palette than using Directx9 that looks much more realistic. It's due to the r_colograding setting in postprocessing effects but only works in DX10 in very high

DX9 high shaders/very high postprocessing:

DX10 very high shaders/very high postprocessing:

Good info but im not trying to imply that the ini tweaks make everything available thats in DX10 because I know a few things are not. Such as the r_colorgrading.

I only posted the pics to show people how good they could make DX9 look if they didnt have a way to run it in DX10.

Yep, agreed... but I think it's also important to highlight what DX10 brings that we cannot get in DX9

Yes, there's alot of truth in that... and tweaking the ini to add DX10 features to a DX9 situation is a good solution to get most of the nice effects that the devs tried to make "exclusive" to DX10

Well unless things change with the final build I will be running Vista 64+DX9 path with ini hacks.

Reason is that it runs a bit faster and doesnt have the mouse lag that currently plagues the DX10 path of the demo and it looks darn impressive..
