I installed the driver 100.14.23 on my Intel Quad Q6600 and 8500 GT.
OS is Gutsy Gibbon. After some time, even hours, the system freezes completely. I followed installation instraction "Installing NVIDIA Linux graphics drivers on recent distributions (FC, Ubuntu, etc)" and also "If you have a stability problem, PLEASE read this first". However, I don't want to use just 1 CPU using "idle=poll and/or maxcpus=1" as kernel parameters. Gutsy Gibbon doesn't seems to have the change_page_attr() interface problem. So what else could be the problem? I attached the nvidia-bug-report.log. Best regards Andreas |

1. I uninstalled the nvidia-glx package with the --purge option 2. I deleted files /etc/init.d/nvidia-glx and /etc/init.d/nvidia-kernel 3. I edit file /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common with DISABLED_MODULES="nv nvidia_new" 4. I deleted /lib/linux-restricted-modules/.nvidia_new_installed 5. kernel is 2.6.22-14 6. I do not have more than 1 GPU, so I don't need pci=nommconf 7. Gutsy Gibbon has no problems with the change_page_attr() interface impl. in the kernel, so do I need really need idle=poll and/or maxcpus=1 as kernel boot parameter? I don't like to use maxcpus=1 on my quad! And I read about heat problems using idle=poll. Again, need it with correct change_page_attr() ? Did I overseen something? Is there a hint in the logfile? greetings Andreas |

I don't see anything unusual in your bug report.
You appear to have skipped: For any problem that involves instability, you should always verify that you are using the most recently released BIOS for the motherboard. |

My motherboard is a P35T-FB (vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS), it's a kind of EliteGroup P35T-A.
BIOS is up to date, there are no releases available from Fujitsu Siemens. |

Do you have a means of reliably reproducing the problem, or is it random?
