Titan's Quest was still a much better game though, namrok. I'd rather play it.

I tried playing a little more last night and I came to the conclusion that this game really isn't the biggest disappointment of the year. It is still the 2nd biggest disappointment. The first belongs to Quake Wars. Just like Quake Wars, HellGate London had a MASSIVE fanbase ready for their game. Probably the BIGGEST two of the year. Too bad both companies dropped the ball with actually releasing a good product.

Oh well... heres to the next "Diablo 2" clone. Where ever you might be.

Well, one thing I like about Titan Quest over Hellgate is the skill system. I liked how Titan Quest would have the new skills modify and enhance the old ones, so that no skill point was ever wasted. I'm not a huge fan of this thing Hellgate does where you put 2 skill points into something, just to get the one beyond it, and then never use that skill again.

I'm kinda disappointed that Hellgate's core game mechanic ended up so wobbly. I had really high hopes for this title and something with a little grinding in a setting other than Blizzard's cash cow, (which in all honesty, I spent way too much time.) Is it still worth picking this one up?

played this game again last night.

I stand by my statements earlier. This is a "could have been a great game".

Well its NOT and that is what matters

The Developers of the game failed to release a polished product
and i am not going to waste my time waiting for some miracle patch...

There are so many great games coming out...
I am already having a blast with COD4 and Gears of Wars and soon with Crysis also i guess

I am not going to "cry" about Hellgate London

When I bought Hellgate the fella at the store was telling me how great The Witcher was but I figured I'd go with the more well known title... I can't bring myself to finish this game, I do think once they smooth out the bugs I'll replay it.

Couple things rather suck, having to pay to get more then 3 character slots and having to pay to get a larger stash, I'm not sure if the share stash "upcoming" feature will be subscriber only. This game is not worth $9.99 a month to play.

It is a major disappointment. I had such high hopes for this game. All the random loot grabbing and mass slaughter of mobs is cool at first, but it all goes downhill fast.

I guess this is what happens when you are no longer under Blizzard's strict quality control. Blizz would have sat on this game for another year. They'd be embarrassed to release this. Flagship figured they could just take Diablo and make it 3D and everyone would eat it up. And that's all they did. It's Diablo in 3D. Nothing more and a whole lot less.

Thing is, Diablo had character and atmosphere and polish. Hellgate has none of that. The characters aren't funny at all, they're just kinda weird and annoying. The writing is bland and confusing. The art design is uninspired. The sound effects are nothing special. And the whole London setting is, well...kinda boring.

I think that's the major problem with Hellgate from the start, the sci-fi horror setting. Burned out post-apocalyptic cities of the future aren't nearly as creepy and wicked as medieval fantasy horror. The subways, tunnels, and empty city streets in Hellgate lack the atmosphere of a haunted graveyard on a rainy night or a skeleton filled crypt. Instead of casks and coffins full of gold you have cardboard boxes and "icechests." The guns are kinda cool, sure, but nothing is as cool as a Battleaxe with a flaming skull and spikes on the handle. Maybe it's possible to make sci-fi weapons look as badass as medieval fantasy stuff, but it looks like Flagship wasn't even trying.

That's another big problem with Hellgate. The artwork just seems lazy. The British Museum, for example, looks like it was thrown together by a 1st year 3d graphics student. It's just grey walls and boxes everywhere, like they forgot to add textures. I've seen better graphics on the PS2 and yet the engine drags like I'm trying to run Crysis. And the whole random dungeon thing is neat in theory, but in practice it just fails. I'm surrounded by the same cardboard boxes and explosive barrels wherever I go. Mobs popping up in crazy places and clipping through walls. Escort quest givers standing right next to their destination. That's just lazy. I want to explore a dungeon designed by a clever human with a degree in game design, not a reshuffled maze of the same few textures and mobs.

Releasing this game in this state and asking 50 bucks for it is insulting. Asking for another 10 bucks a month is like a kick in the nuts.

Do the new drivers .09's give this game any boost?

And no it doesn't have to be unsticked because you don't like it.

One of the biggest disappointments is the environment. All most all the areas look the same, music is the same! I was very excited in the beginning. Now, I am getting bored. I hate the idea of randomly generated level. I really want each level to be unique and to have good artistic design. Almost all the environments feel the same. What heck!

I think this is a great statement - I remember when I was full into Titan Quest (I still play it on occasion - love that game) people were saying it's a great game, but they would rather have randomly generated environments. Well, here we are with H:L and we have our randomly generated environments, and you know what? There's a big difference between environments generated by a machine and those that are painstakingly designed from the ground up by a person.

So far I'm enjoying my time with this game, but because I'm so busy right now I'm literally playing an hour every other day, so it's sure to get to me pretty soon. I like the slaughter and the action, I don't like the skill system or the fact you can't respec... The one good thing about it being more 'multiplayer' than TQ and being from Flagship rather than Ironlore is that they have the money, and the ability to push updates. I don't think this will ever be as good as TQ, but it can still get better (I hope? ).
