Gotta admit when this came through the door, I didn't think I'd like it.

Loaded it it up and whacked the settings to max, 1920x1080, setup a marksman character, played it for ten minutes and quit in disgust.

Looked horrible, played horrible, laughable car models. Definately not meant to be a first person shooter.

Then I went back to it a day later, turned off the stupid blurring effects, played as a different class, zoomed right out in third person and tried again with a sword instead of a gun.

Much better.

In fact, after giving this game an impartial hour to figure it all out, now I think I'm addicted. I had crysis come through at the same time and I've honestly played this more. Simple but addictive gameplay wins again!

Now back to Peggle..

Yeah, I know I trashed this game, but I'm hooked on the damned thing. Maybe it's the loot junkie in me, the one that had me addicted to WOW for 2 years. Maybe it's the part that likes blowing stuff up. I love running with blazing guns mowing through zombie mobs and busting open demons like fat pinatas full of guns and money. Playing the Hunter is like playing Serious Sam with unlimited ammo and grenades and RPG loot. Mindless destruction. And now that I got a new 8800 GT it actually looks pretty nice.

Still, the bugs are atrocious. I've been stuck 3 times and dumped from the server 4 or 5 times so far. I've lost gear. And no one actually groups up in multiplayer. They barely even use the chat channel. None of it works properly. It's kinda sad.

And I know this game will get old fast, but I'm hooked for now.

EDIT: In the next patch they are opening up the 24 multi-player character slots for non-subscribers. The few people who did subscribe to the game are not very happy about it. Nice change, but I doubt I'll use the 3 that I have now.

I particularly like the sound the volt rifle makes. "Click (pause) bzzzzzzzzzzt" Very nice.

Alright so, I just put together my new PC, and I've been running this game in DX10 mode with nearly all the bells and whistles (I have to turn shaders from "Extreme" down to "Very High") and it looks and plays fantastic. Almost like the promo movies that had been gloriously prerendered a few years ago when they first announced the game.

Hmmmm, Eye Candy.

Unhappy Re: Hellgate: London Feedback

Hi

i just got this game installed it patched to 0.5 i think, and i get this as seen in picture and ingame also, its like the player is almost invisible or full of tiny yellowish dots, wdf?!
Although i left all graphics settings to its defaults but those where pretty much maxed out, except shadows and aa set to medium quality, i'm using 169.04 @ XP32bit on 8800gts320mb.
Anybody else saw this?
image is scaled down.

edit:
LOL i've messed a bit with settings in driver's CP and its a issue with transparency antialiasing- i had it to multi sampling. With OFF works fine. ,

Can I just say "huh ?!" at the ending... was it room left for the expansion ?
Overall I liked the game, though the infinite repetitive quest of "go there kill that demon" pretty much killed it for me, especially the ones from the broker in Mark Lane Station.
And where's the cinematics list ? I know half the movies are worthless, but the couple at the end I would like to be able to view without going through the whole ordeal again.

Good point it's worth mentioning again that the opening cinematic to this game is probably the best I've ever seen. FOR THE LIVING!!

I'm about an hour into Act II and it says I should talk to some guy to get a mission but when I find him, there's no option to start a conversation. So in other words I'm b*ggered.

On my side I can confirm Digital MasteR's scenario, it's only transparency AA, 163 and 169 alike.

You mean having transparency AA on screws it up ? but regular AA on is fine ?

Can you please clarify this.
