So far, the people of nvnews, want to wait for the nv30 and choose the best one between r300 and nv30.

It's a timing thing, combined with a need thing..
Timing: The only real money I can budget to upgrading comes in the March-May time of each year. Need: My Ti4600 hasn't suddenly gotten slower just because the 9700 is coming out. In fact, it could last me far beyond next spring, if I wasn't such a gotta have the high-end sorta nut. And why don't some of you other voters express you're logic (or lack of it) behind the votes you made? Or is this an anonymous poll? ![]()

But I'm going to try and hold off for the NV30, so that prices drop.

Why I want to wait:
1) I haven't gotten a game yet that isn't at least playable on my (not quite antiquated) system, so I can hold off on the upgrade for a little while longer. Besides, I'll be able to get more CPU and memory horsepower for the buck that way! 2) I own Nvidia stock. Like I'm going to contribute money to their competition! ![]() Historically for me, it's always been a piece of software that pushes the upgrade. The Star Wars Screen Entertainment package pushed me from a 386 to a 486. Quake (and a free processor) pushed me from there to a Pentium Pro. Shogun: Total War pushed me to my current system. And I imagine it'll be Doom 3 that pushes the next upgrade (unless the Raven Shield or Splinter Cell requirements exceed the wooly mammoth that I call a computer). Cheers, JND |

I'm waiting for NV30. I'm a bit of a loyal nvidia follower. So unless they fudge themselves over I'll be sticking with them. Plus it gives me a few more months to save up for it.

Well im going to go with the 9700 because I prefer ATIs products. Everyone likes what they like.
I have owned and used some Nvidia cards, even as recently as a GF2 GTS, and would be interested to see the Nv30.....IF it was going to be released anywhere close to the 9700. The 9700 is here now. (some people have already recieved their pre orders from ATI)..I just cant see waiting another 4 months or so to find out the Nv30 is basically the same thing. The techs here now..why wait.

Ill be getting the 9700, but if I had to actually pay the $399 I would wait for the NV30.
Go to CompUSA, and buy the 9700 and get a replacement plan. When the NV30 comes out.. Take your 9700 back and say you want the NV30 and poof.. You get your NV30. Pay for another replacement plan on your NV30, and replace that when the NV35 or whatever the next chip you want comes out.

No question, NV30 is the next card for me.......This is the first time since the original GeForce that I have anticipated a card this much!

I just hope you won't be dissapointed if it has R300 features and R300 performance.
