only game for me that is faster under dx10 is lost planet. 8800 series is pretty good at dx10 if done right, but I guess most of the game developers are just stamping the dx10 compatibilty with their games for just marketing purposes, and also with very bad implementation of dx10 code path which takes a major hit, and probably making a gpu work harder than it should.

Question Re: [H]ardOCP Reviews DX10 Gears of war, 25fps drop for no IQ increase.

Why doesn't the UE3 run with AA in DX9 ? What's the technical reason ? I bet that there's a way to make it work.

Also, check the DX10 AA pics @ HardOCP. The AA isn't applied to all the render targets.

I believe Sweeney said that UE3 in GOW uses deferred rendering which isn't compatible with regular AA modes in DX9 and that this limitation is gone in DX10.

I'm not sure whats so different in the UE3 engines of R6Vegas, Bioshock, MOHA because AA works with these games (in DX9).

Proof that high post counts can still be idiots. ^^

Its a dx9 game..nothing was added to dx10... as far as we know the only reason its there is to allow AA if you want it. Anyone using this game as a dx10 benchmark is an absolute freaking retard.

no need to be name calling other people... if nothing was added then why is the framerate 25fps lower?

Well apparently you cant point a magic wand at dx9 and go "poof..work as dx10 with no performance loss", more needed to be done, and they apparently didn't do that. yet anyways.

I find it weird that dx10 was done reasonably well in Bioshock using an older version of the same engine but in GoW there's a terrible performance loss. Maybe a magic driver from nvidia will help out? The latest driver has no optimizations for GoW.
