That DX9 performance looks awesome, 62 fps cap and yet you still can average almost 60 fps? Freakin sweet, my 8800GT is supposed to come in tomorrow too! I'm so hyped up lol.

No need to be a smart aleck with me like you run these boards or something. I very well read this thread. I still find it weird that there is such a drop in framerate when clearly the engine is capable of better performance when rendered in dx10. I expected more from Epic.

You get advice from local retailers? Far more often than not, the advice they give you will be worse than what you get from a place like this. Believe me, I know how retail works. Your average person on this board knows more about anything related to technology than your average retail store manager even, nevermind the sales people who know even less most of the time. All they know is just enough to sell their wares to the average schmoe, thats it.

This is the wrong game to use for DX9 vs. DX10 comparisions. It is a console game. I doubt it was written with geometry shaders or DX10 codepath in mind when it was released. DX10 mode is probably there just so you can enable FP AA.

The fact that dx10 sucks and kills performance doesnt surprise me at all, what im more concerned about is whats causing the massive fps drops on the 2900xt, from 60+ to single figures at some points is just shocking.

No dedicated hardware AA resolve, has to be done in shaders = Broken architecture, plus the worst drivers in the world.

There you go.

AA done through shaders huh.... id be very interested in knowing whats so fancy about the game in dx9 that prevents hardware AA.

Eitherway.. people need to get it through there head, this is not a dx10 game, its not optimised for dx10, theres no dx10 shaders (except for maybe the AA one apparently) and that for all purposes, the game is not MENT to be run in DX10.

Yet there is an in-game graphics option where you can turn DX10 "On"

Its a dx9 game..nothing was added to dx10... as far as we know the only reason its there is to allow AA if you want it. Anyone using this game as a dx10 benchmark is an absolute freaking retard.
So ok tard, why the hell is there a DX10 feature in the first place then when there is about no gfx improvements ? tell me that.
