Does just renaming the game .exe to Bioshock let you enable AA under DX9 / Win XP like Bioshock and Moh:A? Or does a guy have to install Nhancer?

I have done it with the last version of the Nhancer. Activate the compatibility of antialeasing of Oblivion. No change the name of the exe .

Seems to work but I haven't fully tested it yet ...
There may be problems when zooming or in cutscenes ...
But so far so good.

Thx for the heads up

BTW for anyone elase wondering the default console key is numpad - the hit ` to type

i'll grab some FOV comparison shots asap

It works here, and performance hit is low. CSAA modes seem to work too, and even Super Transparency AA. 2x MSAA works too, and should be useful for 1920x1200 users.

JK, but, who needs vista + dx10 ?

Again, if nVidia can force AA from the driver, i don't see why the game developers can't.

I'm running the game at 1920x1200 with DX10 and AA (4xAA) mode enabled and the framerate is smooth (bar the odd stuttering which I understand is to do with the game) and my framerate averages 40fps peaking and valleying respectively to 50 and 32 on rare occasions.

Humm strange as i made no change to any of my .ini files to alter the console pullup key ` just didnt work but after checking my WarInput.ini i saw these

[Engine.Console]
ConsoleKey=Subtract
TypeKey=Tilde

oh well maybe its a vista thing?

anyone have any luck removing the FPS Caplimit?

setting

[Engine.GameEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=False

in the \Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini doesnt seem to remove the 62fps cap

Any hows some FOV comparison shots

DX9 1680x1050 (using vivid rendering profile)

85 felt about right for me anything higher made the aiming zoom feel off but thats just me

Cheers
Gizmo

I Found the hit for DX10 AA was'nt worth it btw but i'll have a play with forced nHancer dx9 later to see how the hit is with various modes

Thanks for the FOV screens. Glad to see there is a hack working for proper widescreen.

Now, all we need is a simple FSAA solution in DX9...i.e. none of this nHancer crap.

It's not difficult. Nhancer is easy.
