The guy was tough enough on hardcore. I had to sink like 12-14 sniper shots at him and when I ran out pumped him full of lead and prayed that the bastid went down....only after the 18th try and numerous monitors and gamepads later......but it was all worth it just to get that sence of accomplishment

Either use Vista (DX10) or use 169.09 for XP (DX9) + nHancer v2.3.2 (set path to Startup.exe, put it on Oblivion compatibility)

Vista/DX10 enables anti-aliasing. Unlike other games, I couldn't get nHancer to force it in DX9.

A warning to anyone installing Vista SP1 RC1:

If you have a Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive, they are now recognised as such in Explorer/My Computer with SP1. This seems to cause havoc with GoW as it will no longer recognise the game disc.

Using the No-DVD crack worked.

The good:-
  • Beautiful to look at
  • Great combat mechanics
  • Plenty of replay value (for me)

The bad:-
  • Multiplayer requires a stupid Xbox Live subscription (save for a month free)
  • The game is too dark, for lack of a more technical description. Turn up the in-game brightness or the post-processing intensity level thingamabob and it looks washed out

After a reformat of Vista and installing SP1 fresh, I don't get this problem now.
