Agreed. The discrepancies in the choice of comparison pics is pathetic. That imbecile who posted that pic on NeoGAF is a clever liar or moron.

Anyone can take two caps and make it seem like they are different games. Why didn't he try to replicate the situation in the first pic at least - where the motion blur is clearly masking some of the defects.

And then he picks a situation where there is not much lighting to use as a comparison to the first picture. Very deceptive.

Besides, those caps were taken from actual video footage of actual gameplay, so it can look as good. Other people in this thread have mentioned that there's another mode above Very High as well.

Hopefully Crytek will release a patch to make the game look like what the originally intended when more powerful gpus are out.

Thats a damn lie! Just look at the water in crysis when u put the settings to low, not as nice as far cry. Anyway, Far cry on maximum settings, with 64bit mod, and added HDR with 16xAF and 16xMSAA/6xAA+AAA in 1600x1200 truly is nice and also demanding. I had lag in some places with a x1950xt with those settings lol.

For a 4 years old game , FarCry still looks pretty good.

Sure.. I just think that Half-Life 2 being 3 years looks a good deal better and Far Cry is 3 years. I can see why I was impressed at the time, because the setting and scale of things was so new, but really HL2 was better IMO

Crysis though is without doubt the game that has ever impressed me the most on graphics ever contemporarily

In a video interview on GT yerli or whatever his name is said that they're planning to release patches and graphics addons to unlock/add new graphics features just like they did with the 64bit texture upgrade / HDR lightning upgrade on Far Cry. Hopefully being better prepared and having more experience as a company now, they'll be ready to release it sooner and as soon as G90 hits the streets

+1. I'm glad that they are "scaling" the game engine for hardware in the next two years and adding features. I'm sure two years from now we will be complaining about our PCs still not being able to run the latest addons lol.

By the way, the guy (verw3948) that made that video of his custom map (that looked very similar to the original tech video) did make a xls file with some of his lighting settings in the editor.

Here is the file:

http://www.glassedgestudios.com/Settings.xls

And here is the thread at incrysis:
