Wonder if the servers are being hammered or under maintenance?

EDIT - COD.com forums members say that they can't get a list of servers either. Guess it's down for maintenance.
Yea it has been shakey from the start. Hopefully they are working on fixing it so that it doesn't take so long to connect.

I'm not offended but I would rather play Crysis perf/visuals/replayability/advanced AI/physics/destrucable objects and enviroments instead of CoD4 an interactive war movie thats very exciting for the first time but has no replay value at all (SP) and suffers from too many scripts and spawning enemies with limited AI.

I'll reserve my final judgement on the retail versions but demo vs. demo Crysis clearly owns CoD4 in all areas except performance (and that crazy warzone feeling) but thats given due to the rendering differences. It's kinda sad that I probably played and enjoyed the Crysis demo for much longer than I will enjoy the whole CoD4 SP portion. I should have CoD4 by tomorrow and then I might take back parts of my comment but based on my experiences on CoD1/CoD2 (SP, never really played MP) I expect that history will repeat itself.

In the end it's all about personal taste and preference and in that aspect Crysis hit it almost perfectly for me (gameplay, AI, balance, visuals, physics, and hopefully story too) and thats why I'm so excited about it.

The CoD4 demo does the game no justice. Once you go through some parts of the game, you'll see why I say it's so intense. My jaw has hit the floor a few times.

Agreed. I thought that demo was very mediocre, but then after playing some missions in the full game like where you escort the tank, WOW!

I have an immersion problem with COD4, all the scripted action takes me right out of the experience. I become very conscious that I'm playing a game and not a persistent world. I'm playing thru on hardened to make it a challenge but everytime I do come to an actual challege (where I die multiple times) by the end of the challenge my victory feels 90% sequence repetition and 10% better tactics. Whereas in the Crysis demo I never got the same sequence twice.

As far as graphic comparison COD has more of a wow factor but there are times when indoors that I see very little difference between COD2 and COD4, of course once you step outside into the war that all changes.

Crysis does a better job of boundaries as there are no boundaries. What I mean by that is in COD4 when you get to a boundary its very apparent that the game universe ends or that background objects (such as the mushroom cloud) are not being drawn where they should really be b/c where they should really be does not exist in the game world. Kind of like, in movies, putting a large picture of a mountain behind the actors to make it seem like they are in the mountains. Whereas in Crysis its possible to disable the game boundaries and go to any point you see b/c everything you see is actually modelled in a coherent 3D space. You can actually climb that montain you see over there b/c its part of the world.

Crysis has nothing on cod4 in terms of gameplay.....

Yes the visuals look better in crysis (only just) but wtf....may as well collect every single screenshot that has been released by crytek/EA from when it was first announced and run them through windows slideshow....voila you have crysis full game

Fact is a game isnt just about graphics.....and that is why COD4 pwnz Crysis.

CoD4 pwnz the Crysis Demo, we will have to wait until the final game to make a proper decision.

I'm not offended inasmuch as completely dumbfounded, played through 3/4 of COD 4 and have yet to see anything graphically amazing, it has nice touches some good effects and runs great but I don't think its close to Crysis, I'd prefer crysis on medium to cod 4 maxed

Also I LOL at the gameplay comments, Crysis is further ahead in that department, COD 4 is just a matter of remaining at a distance, shooting a stream of constantly spawning guys until the required number are dead, moving forward. How can you compare it to the open, thinking, intelligent crysis gameplay?

I just wonder sometimes if people just want a slightly interactive movie experience, I personally prefer games

i'm damn close to finishing this now, i really wish it were longer. a couple nights play and done. Then i'll give MP a bash

There are so many "that is so freaking cool" moments in this game. The AC-130 Mission and Shock & Awe are massive highlights.

CoD4 has blown me away with graphics and gameplay. As far as Crysis, I think it's going to take another year for hardware to catch up properly and for those "added features" to move it's way into the game. Now if Crysis could run just as smooth as CoD4, then it would be the better game. But hey, the final product comes out in 6 days so we will see.
