Sounds like a good idea.

The maps in this game seem like they are meant for 16 people max. Some of the servers I played had around 30.

Also, what are the best game modes? I hate round based games, so whichever one is round based (ie, die and then wait for the round to end) I will avoid like the plague. Team DM seems ok for racking up points but there is practically no team work involved in it since everyone just runs around alone.

Round based that you're talking about is Search and Destroy which imo is the best mode. Play it for a while and try to get used to it. TDM is very good as well, However it seems as time passes by there is too much camping for me anyways. Try sabotage it seems more team based. COD 4 mp is probably my favorite game. It takes time to get used to but I can't put it down.

Heh, CS burned me out on round based games completely. I can't stand to play them for more than 5 minutes any more.

Left 4 Dead is the only exception, but that's a bit different since you generally aren't going to die early on, and if you do the round is probably going to end quickly.

Then I would just choose as server with 12 or less people on it.You won't rank up as fast, but you won't get frustrated either. Oh and have fun

You mean you can't shoot through a wall, and get kill in real life?

In real life you don't have infinite ammo via respawning so your ammo is precious. And you're likely to seriously injure yourself if you fire 30 rounds of .223 into a solid wall at point blank range. A .223 will not penetrate a foot of concrete (or even a few inches of concrete), and the bullet will most likely ricochet or send an ass load of shrapnel back your way.

Not to mention that a bullet that penetrates anything will be far less lethal and will most likely be going in a completely different direction when it comes out the other side.

It just seems like a problem when I'm getting hit and killed by bullets that are being fired blindly through a brick wall 100 yards away, through a wooden building and into my head with laser precision. If they wanted bullet penetration in the game they should have made it somewhat realistic to stop it from being abused.

So I take it you never played the original Counter Strike ?

I love games with bullet penetration so long as you can't shoot through 8 feet of steel

Its a video game, not real life. Super realistic FPS games are horrible IMO.

i hate all (bullet) penetration period. I feel like you should be able to see your enemy in order to hurt them. Splash damage is fine. Nades are obviously fine. Cod4 is such a sick game to begin with, i try not to get myself in situations where spraying through walls will get me.

I played CS all the time. From what I remember, bullets would only go through one wall, even if it was paper thin. And the levels were generally laid out in a way that made shooting through walls a waste of ammo. Especially since you had limited ammo and you actually had to pay to replenish it every round.

I just think this game is too fast paced and cramped to have such extreme bullet penetration. Other than the rare small servers that Rum Cooler mentioned, the game plays like Quake with towel-helmets and ARs.

I really enjoy the servers with 6-12 players, but they seem to be few and far between. Any servers that give me a decent ping either have 3 players, or 30 players.
