really what we are seeing at the moment is just the short year or so "golden period", when consoles are new and can keep up with PCs. This time next year it will all be starting to die off. Console gamers will be quietly content with Madden 09 and the latest iteration of halo, which will look no better than Halo 3, which only looked average at best. Development will shift back to PC specific releases with cut down versions released for consoles a while later.

consoles for me. to be honest, current next-gen video card isn't cutting it for me. consoles has so much different kind of games while pushing graphics as possible without facing any problems (unlike with pc games where you have to worry about drivers, slow fps, etc.). usually, when they first get released, they're usually ahead of pc for short time. i'm excited for next consoles.

8800gtx was rather disappointing and it was major release but i love that card. dx10 finally started to come in but with ok performance from that, and we spent alot of money while consoles last around 5 years or so. i've been playing games on consoles a lot more than before... but not as much as in 16bit days.

Xbox360 is 2 years old now, PS3 is 1 year old. For their fully equiped launch price of ~$1000, you can upgrade (or even buy) a PC that is practically more powerful than either system. Spec would include 4xCPU + Geforce 8800GT + 1+gb RAM. Imagine what you could buy next year for the launch price of a console! PCs are becoming interesting again

Where'd you pull that # from? All you need is a TV with some composite jacks. It's safe to say everyone has one of those.

Good year for PC.

With the GT out and perfermance pretty much sitting besides the GTX..and Q6600 pretty nice price tag..its pretty affordable to actually build a pretty high end perfermance machine.

And lots of good games out this year for PC. Don't forget next year as well, PC users has alot to look forward to there as well

New Intel CPUs, AMD Cpus, the rumors new ATI Card (prey to god it will actually give some challenge this time to nvidia), GF9.

This year alone we have Crysis/UT3/GoW(PC)/CoD4/Wither..i mean fark the list is too long tbh..i know some of the games do come both console/PC, but this time atleast the ports to PC run / look great.

The only time to look at consoles would be..when they release there next gen console....but you still gotta admit..its a great year for PC gamers this time around...and more to come.

Definetely graphics launch. There's nothing like hitting refresh around midnight the night that the NDA expires. Then on another browser your reading some illegible Chinese website where the only thing readable is the leaked benchmark graphs.

Should have made it a poll.

I vote not just GPU, but anything new PC related.

The XBOX 360 launch was very exciting for me, I waited New Years Eve of 2006 for 6 hours just to get mine. However, I do get a little giddy when a new video card comes out.

+1

The 360 is my 3rd console in 20 years and it's been more annoying instead enjoyable. I'm a PC fanboy so I say that even low-end cards like the 7300 or 8300 series are more exciting than a console launch.
