No idea on the 680i gulizard, sorry. No SLI for me so never looked into it.

Well gonna run Prime 95 overnight, I'm going to bed.

Hopefully it doesn't catch fire while I'm sleeping

All done loading XP SP-2 here. Works fine! I installed using SATA AHCI also. I had to use the Intel SATA drivers on a floppy when I installed XP, but it worked fine.

Next I need to install Vista and get my programs back up and running. I'll continue to use XP as a backup, but fully functional OS.

Actually the first thing I did was flash my BIOS to the v601 using a FAT32 Thumb drive. Worked fine also.

No BSOD here yet. Everything has been stable from the start. No overclocking right now. I want to get everything installed and stable before I play with it.

Off to load Vista now...

I got a feeling the source is bs, think about what it says. Basically its saying SLI will be gone, that'd make AMD back in the loop... without SLI on Intel motherboards, that'd just suck. I doubt that'll happen. I got a feeling they'll put out an update on it soon enough, Intel wouldn't mess themselves over like that no way.

Stable meaning I can surf the web and no BSOD's at boot.

I've also noticed CPU-Z 1.41 isn't reading right. It will flash my multi at 8x and then drop and stay at 6X most of the time. It reads my voltage a bit lower than my bios is set for as well.

Sandra shows 8X and cpu @ 3.2 but is a little low on the voltage as well.
It sounds like C1 Halt State is enabled in your BIOS. Make sure it's disabled since you're OC'ng. It will drop your multi down like you're talking about.

LOL. I really hope this is true. It would serve Nvidia right for being both poor Quality Controllers and stingy bastages at the same time.

That is one way that Intel could truly screw over Nvidia for being stingy about SLI. Think of the masses that would flock to either AMD processors or Intel chipsets...

It wouldn't be Intel who would be screwed; it would be Nvidia. They're banking on selling chipsets, but the majority of the enthusiast population runs Intel processors and not SLI.

These released a month early. Does this mean the Q9450 will be here before Christmas?

Nope. Those have been on the roadmap for November for quite some time. The rest of the lineup will be here in Jan 08.

Thank You!! That fixed it. CPU-Z now shows 3.2 steady. I love this board. I know I mostly lurk but there is so much help here.

Also Prime 95 seems to be stable now as well.

Should I be posting here while running prime?

I couldn't keep prime 95 stable on the 1600 fsb so I had to go back to 1333.

I got a 5883 cpu score on 3dmar06 (not sure how good or bad that is.)

I'm running Prime 95 right now to check stability. I ran almost 3 hours at 3.66 with no errors so I'm crossing my fingers.

Sandra is reporting 49 deg Cel. while running prime 95 (and posting this and running sandra). (On Air!!) I think that is good. Asus monitoring software isn't working in Vista 64.

That's the update I'm pretty stoked so far!

Oh yeah and before I forget a big thank you to DarthBeavis for the link to the HardOcp article showing their 4ghz OC. Saved me a lot of time guessing on the voltage!

Although they went to 1.4v on the core I'm at 1.375.

That's bull. Asus already has a beta bios out for my board that supports 45nm CPUs.
